Never forget that this loser’s first response after Lion Air was to “blame the pilots”. His first response after Ethiopian’s crash was to proclaim the “absolutely safe status of the design”.

The point is that the vast, vast majority of us don’t get anything near as generous as this. If I f*ck up to even a minor degree, I get fired with absolutely nothing to show for it.

Theyll still exist. If Buick can still exist here then BMW will still exist. They have a firm market

I may not love BMW’s recent vehicles, but I do respect their dedication to sticking with gasoline-powered engines (aka what they do best) instead of just hopping on the wave of electric adoption. It’s a pretty smart strategy from a business point of view, since electric cars are still in their relative infancy.

Hmm. Having just bought a new BMW, i’d strongly disagree. I could care less about the badge, they just happen to build the car I want....with the engine/transmission combo I want.

Recharge time is a bigger issue than range, in my opinion. Until we have recharges in 10 minutes or less, I just don’t see most people making the switch, at least not willingly.

That, or maybe they recognize that EVs wont magically solve climate change, but merely shift the production of emissions somewhere else.

At least one mainstream automaker will be selling gas engines in 2100. Bank on it.

A fair trial by American standards would mean he could buy himself out. How is that better than the imprisonment of an actual billionaire criminal.

I don’t know the details of Ghosn’s case, but I will say this: Japan has a 99.9% conviction rate. Their justice system has flaws that I can’t quite support. When he says it’s a rigged justice system, he’s not wrong. Getting a fair trial, by American standards at least, is impossible in Japan.

Winter tires on any of these would work just fine. I grew up on a farm 6 miles from the nearest paved road. You’ll be fine, Francis.

The Suburban should not exist.

Where did you get $80,000? Cayman starts at $56,000, but if it was the only sports car and they made several times as many of them, prices could come down.

I need this for ma family ‘n stuff.

The BMW solution, quoted from the link above, and I can attest to how irritating it is, because I can drive 40-50 different cars a day, some of them BMW’s.

On my car, there’s no mechanical switch. When you press the turn signal, it doesn’t lock in place until you complete the turn, it returns to the neutral position. You can then tap it either direction to turn it off. It also has the tap for 3 blinks feature. It still works mostly like a turn signal, but different

Also, you know, turn on the indicator before you start braking, merging, turning, or whatever that requires a turn signal. It’s not helpful for you to turn it on mid-maneuver. I already know at that point.

Weight and packaging are two huge differences, plus battery swapping is currently not feasible in any kind of racing situation and recharging technology acceptable for a race environment doesn’t currently exist.  These things could and probably will be developed over time, but currently they’re just ideas on how to

Energy density vs weight. Pure EV makes little sense in long term, high output work like trucking or racing.  ICE cars put out the same power at all stages of "charge", EV get slower.
