Wait, did you just add relevant and necessary context that makes the entire affair more understandable and way cooler? Thanks for that, I really appreciate it.

PS: Buy Skyrim.

Epic gamer move, bruh. I can see you read the piece and came away with a different opinion than me, a piece instructive on how to cover games. That one line is important, because it directly refutes the point you made.

Huh, it’s almost like the author of this piece took an Overwatch 2 trailer literally, and was ‘broken’ by the sight of ‘a bunch of goddamn heroes.’ If you’re so loved by the heroic sight of Overwatch characters animated for a publicity event by Blizzard, there’s some taking it far more literally than me.

True.  But can you dislike bad things while also glorifying them for money?

Or just provide free advertising for awful companies because it makes you money. One or the other. Deadspin has the same issue with hypocrisy, how do you cover all the awesome football plays that will get hits and cover the games while also condemning the sport for being run by a billionaire cartel complicit in

And yet people will dump 500 hours into Madden, which doesn't have a 'game time's associated with it. Length of game is purely on the individual; Game of Thrones is 73 episodes long, and the biggest criticism is not that it's 'too long' to be enjoyed.

Nobody is telling you to buy it. You probably like other games and would otherwise never be interested in this thing. Go play something else. The OP was humblebeagging about his busy...marriage? And made the point that MediEvil was the better choice because it would be a lot more fun, too. I'm just saying that

If that's what you took the game to be 'mainly' about, maybe we didn't read the same review? But to be fair, there's no subscription fee and the game doesn't expire, so even someone with limited time (like me) can manage to play an 80 hour game in a number of short sessions. It doesn't ha e to be that long games are

'a lot more fun' is a bit of a stretch, don't you think? An 80+ hour game with lots of plot and emotionally charged content vs a remake of a PS1 game, that's a big gap in comparison.

Also, let’s be honest here: not every game reviewer is interested in games as art or sophisticated musings on the state of the world. Camera angles seductively portraying male bodies is an instant 1/10 in some circles.

I’m an addict and alcoholic. 7.5 years sober. Video games at one point became the only way to keep the nasty thoughts I would have when I was drink from dominating my mind; something semi-mindlesd to keep the hands and senses busy, something external to dominate and control, something to fight (literal demons, often)

Not gonna lie, I read that, nodding along more and more emphatically, remembering the KSK days, and reading Drew's true sincerity and heartful genuineness has made me a little emotional.

Maybe someone should, I don't know, rank the games, and sort of do so without explaining why or how? Is that acceptable?

The GMG union mentioned on Twitter that their members would be doing so in a show of public solidarity with their coworkers (or former coworkers, as it were).

Is anyone at Kotaku actually a part of the GMG union, or all outside freelancers? Expected to see a lot more red union avatars here this morning like Giz, but so far nothing over on this space.

Just look at any game that has a sequel upcoming, it's likely to end up on PSPlus. Open beta for Nioh 2 runs Nov 1-10, release in March.

Uh, you mean bears and pigs with poop on their balls, right?

You people are fighting the good fight and doing it in the best way you can, with words and the power of the support on this site. Keep it up, and thanks for taking these risks. Fuck the fucks that fired fucking Barry, though.

Hoping for EA to do something good against 2K is like voting for Giant Meteor for president.
