I’d always assumed the leaks were from Klutch. Seems like all along it was their idea to force the Pelicans’ hand by going public with Davis’ trade demands, and so it would make sense that they’d do the same with the trade details.

“Looks good out there, best of luck in the playoffs, break a leg kid!”
This is a completely normal play when a defender wants to check a guy that far away from the basket.
My brother recently claimed, with a straight face, that Irving was
a) the best point guard in the NBA
b) markedly better than Steph Curry, who my brother described as “a pretty good guard who is overrated because his team is so good.”
I will be e-mailing him this post every hour on the hour for the next week, and…
And he is always hurt.....butt or otherwise
Aww, a pasty platypus locking down that jocktight D. It’s FANtastic
It’s not like he leveled Lawrence with a totally surprising screen. Lawrence just bumped him and then basically committed a couple of technical fouls because he’s an untouchable diva QB.
Who plays full court defense in a game like that? He deserved to get picked.
Basically Albert disagrees with the NBA’s entire system of personnel management and the idea that players should not have complete freedom at any point in time. But instead of writing about that, he has decided to make the Pels solely responsible for upholding the system that he came up with in his head. And it is…
It’s not even just Boston! The Zion pick will be out there, the Clippers might be a real thing, and like we’ve seen with Kawhi in Toronto and more notably with PG re-signing in Oklahoma, there are teams willing to gamble on rentals if they have the confidence they can sway a guy to stay.
I generally enjoy the basketball takes around here, but the consensus that the Pelicans messed up for not wanting to cosplay the 2017-18 Lakers is baffling.
It is honestly a mind-numbingly bad take.
Lowe, who I trust more as a basketball analysis than every Deadspin writer combined, said waiting for summer represents the best option for trading Davis from a returning assets standpoint. The Lakers offer won’t go away, and likely other teams (especially the Celtics) can and will beat it.
“Petulantly stonewalling Davis’s destination of choice” by, uh, declining a lousy offer for a bunch of shitty players who can’t even get LeBron to the playoffs this year?
anthony davis always seems to be hurt tho
He signed a fucking contract. If you sign someone to a contract to redo your kitchen and they decide halfway through that they’d rather do someone else’s kitchen, does that mean they can stop? Especially if you are paying them tens of millions of dollars?
Seriously, this spin, man.
Don’t bother dude. Deadspin’s too far down this hole, it would be embarrassing for them to turn back.
Ummm, you don’t want to be there? Don’t sign the extension. Let’s not forget that he committed to 2 more years with the Pels.
That ship sailed when the Pelicans decided to spend the pre-deadline period basically trolling the Lakers instead of replying in good faith to what could still very well wind up being the best trade offer out there.
