Same. This is getting infuriating. Most people seemed to agree that New Orleans should wait it out because (i) Boston has better assets and, therefore, can trump any offer the Lakers make and (ii) as much as the Lakers tried to convince N.O. otherwise, the Lakers’ offer would still be there in the summer.

That’s not a serious argument, is it?

I think you’re wrong. The players get 51% of revenue, not 51% of profit. So the players can still get 51%, and the NBA as a whole can be profitable, while individual franchises lose money.

But the NBA isn’t purely about basketball. It’s about building the best teams within the salary cap/luxury tax that was collectively bargained for. If you want to argue that the salary cap/luxury tax shouldn’t exist in the first place, go for it. But the reality is, they do exist, and bad teams that try to get under

Hmm, earlier this morning, half of the replies to my comment were in the grays. Now, everyone who disagrees with me (and therefore, agrees with the author) is out of the grays. Coincidence?

Exactly. It seems like everyone has decided that these guys are not worth the money they’re demanding - except sportswriters.

That’s a better argument than the one made in the article.  If team values have increased so much, how can they be losing money?

This is dumb. The argument is basically, “Billionaire owners suck. Who cares if they have to spend their money on the luxury tax.”

Once you reach a certain age, almost everyone has some sort of degenerative issue in their back or neck or shoulder. Sometimes, you don’t even know it. Other times, you know it’s there. Just kind of a dull aching. But there’s not really much the doctors can do, so you just sort of live with it.

Deadspin needs to admit that they’re wrong about Machado and Harper. They are two very good but flawed players who simply are not worth the mega 10-year contracts they are demanding. The overall argument (that the owners are screwing players) might have merit, but you undermine it when you use these two as the

Poor Windhorst.  Remember when he used to be the guy getting these “scoops” from Team ‘Bron-Bron.  Now it looks like Wojo is the one holding Rich Paul’s jock.

Well, for Federer, he was, if not washed up, definitely on the decline from about 2012-2016. Then in 2017 he suddenly has this renaissance where he is the best player in the world. At 35 or 36. I don’t think that’s ever happened before in tennis. Yes, I know he started using a larger racket. And he was finally healthy

Federer is my favorite, but Nadal and Djokovic have grown on me. But over the last few years, I have become convinced that they all must be using something. Every time I voice my suspicions, I get blasted, but c’mon.  The signs are all there.

I gave you a star.  Does that pull you out of the grays forever or just for this article?

The C’s would still have to throw in some other major assets - maybe even Jayson Tatum. I’m still making that move if I’m the C’s. There’s no guarantee Kyrie stays with the C’s after next year. And even though Tatum is great and still has a ton of upside, I don’t think his ceiling is anywhere close to in-his-prime Davi

But the Celtics could still trade Irving (and some other assets) for Davis, right? I’m sure the C’s don’t want to do that, but if I have to choose between Irving or Davis, I’m taking Davis.

Naomi is great. I’m a big fan. But the “I’m so shy and cute, I don’t know what to say” act grates on me.  You were just a cold-blooded robot assassin for that last set.  Don’t act like you’re this scared little girl.  We know you’re not.

This article came across as so much hater-ade.

Kaep said he never demanded $10 mil. But only a handful of backups even make $3 mil. Let’s say Kaep was at $5 or 6 mil, that’s still a big difference between where he could have been and what some teams might have been willing to pay him. There were reports that a couple of teams (the Ravens were one) had reached out

I read the article. Sharpe says he wasn’t asking for $10 mil, but he never says what Kaepernick was asking for. Was it $9 mil? $8 mil? What do most backup qb’s make?  Less than $3 mil?  There’s a pretty big gap there.
