Depends on the manual car. My Acura RSX had a lockout pin that prevented shifting into reverse while moving foward. I think most modern manuals have a similar scheme.

Yes yes yes! Boyfriend and I argue about this all the time. His claim is that he wants to drive with Autopilot so he can do something else on the way to work. I can’t tell him enough that Tesla’s “Autopilot” isn’t actually auto-pilot! He would still have to pay attention and be ready to take over at a moment’s notice.
