From experience the big thing is AI are great at is doing well, but that is not where the bugs usually are. Examples of not-well would be consistently coming mid table in a racing game and making sure the flow is “correct” for rewards/end of event/unlocking more events or doing the fun “now disconnect the internet”…
Humans are still far more creative with finding their bugs. We use some automation and get results, but the AI is also sometimes a moron. By having more automation it means you can get some far better destructive testing done.
I think the tether thing is to do with how it works. You do not deal extra damage to the other enemies from the void anchor, you deal it from your weapon. It will not be void, but whatever your weapon is. The tether just adds a debuff that makes the damage shared.
I have a lot of first party compliance experience and one project let me design the presence system to be “Compliant and no more”. Not Playing/In the Menu/Single Player/Multiplayer. There were some “is this single or multiplayer?” questions that I quickly sent one way or the other.
