I’m just happy to see a feature about something with real historical pop culture influence getting attention at all.  I’ll take the predictable errors if that’s the cost.  This article is at 100+ comments, which says plenty about what people want to read.  Most seem lucky to get 30.

The Avocado had a ton of potential when it started. I wouldn’t say it was founded by the most annoying commenters but maybe the most emotive commenters? In any case it could have been an AV Club in exile, with some moderation to keep the worst commenter tendencies at bay. But it was too egalitarian for it’s own good:

I feel like if I remember correctly, the Avocado was founded by the more annoying commenters around here. In any case, I’ve never really been grabbed by what I saw over there. I’m not necessarily grabbed by a lot here either, I’m just so used to coming here I can’t stop.

This show will always be TV comfort food for me. My parents had on the reruns, but as an adult, I understand a lot more of the drama and emotion. My favorite of the non-main cast characters was Sidney Freedman. The empathy and subtle humor he brought in was so welcome.

For those who didn’t live through that era, the show was everywhere in syndication. At one time in the early 80s, on channel 5 in DC, it was shown 24 times per week: four times per weekday (late morning, 7-8 pm, 11 pm), and two times on Sat and Sun (11-12 pm).

SO what’s a good day to be Michael Cera?

For some reason, the exodus of commenters has left us with a high percentage of grumpy middle-aged dads doing their best Abe Simpson cosplay. It is what it is.

Starred for “weeding”.

I think if I lost one of my kids let alone both I would lose my mind and cease functioning entirely, so good for him whatever he does.

I think there are a lot of mee-maws and pep-peps who vote for the Emmys and they would love it if they could vote for “Coach” as best comedy series. If my 82 year-old father could vote for them, he would vote for “Coach” and “Evening Shade” every single year.

I had the same feeling when Schitt’s Creek won every single award it possibly could a couple of year ago. It’s a fine show. I watched every episode and enjoyed it. But it’s ridiculous to me that it won not just all the awards (when The Good Place and What We Do In The Shadows especially were doing stellar, original

Allow me a foreigner perspective here: “Ted Lasso” benefitted from 2 main factors.

Come on, Ted Lasso has more substance than Coach. At its best, the series can be quite life-affirming, when things are at their worst. This was very pronounced in Season 1. Less so in S2, but still some strong stuff when it came to Ted’s therapy, and Nate’s emotional downfall. It may not have some things other

The OG MILF finally gets recognised.

I’ve never watched it, but everything I’ve heard and the little bit I’ve seen of it is totally in line with your description.

True. And Paul Rudd is ageless.

I’m not sure you can call this “America’s future” - with the possible exception of Pocky, these are all niche products that appeal to niche audiences (and folks who have relatives in the region).

I think of them as akin to English candies - there is a certain demographic that goes hard for Lion Bars, Coffee Crisp,

As much as I appreciate learning how to navigate the currently dysfunctional state of consumer recycling, I can’t help but wonder if the water usage required to clean the average peanut butter jar is worth the effort - assuming that your sparkling clean jar doesn’t get contaminated by something else on the way to the
