I went to a press show of Von Trier's Dogville and the end credits roll to the full five / six minute version of Young Americans, so hung around to the very last frame, even though the film is fractionally under three hours, hearing that through a big cinema's superb sound system.

Wambaugh's book, The Blooding, is an extraordinary read. I don't read much true crime stuff but knew of the case, and very much like Wambaugh's work. There are some truly horrifying aspects of the case, and while it is essentially framed as a thriller, it is a truly gripping piece of work.
