Hard to believe one sex tape in (showing two people who are terrible at having sex) unleashed this hell upon us.

There are pockets of lesbians and democrats and (gasp) progressives who live in hostile areas. I think lots of commenters forget about those of us who are there sometimes.
Nah. If it were just awkward “hur hur want company?” lines, that would be bad but maybe not heinous. The part about “well it’s legal, BUT...” definitely pushes it firmly into Homophobic Shitbasket territory tho.
Yeah. Like I bet this guy legitimately probably thought he was being funny and was going to get great tips. I hate the guy for the gross comments, but almost feel bad for him for just NOT having social skills?
It was hibachi so it’s likely he was also their server, there are still the runners, bus people, and the host/ess to consider but even as a former food service person myself I am having a hard time having any sympathy for the restaurant. A server having a bad day is one thing, a server who sexually harasses and makes…
I don’t know what it is about hibachi in particular but like 1 out of 4 times I go you get the chef that teases and probs to a degree that just almost crosses the line, and they think they’re just being entertaining. I’m not surprised to hear this at all.
Most hibachi you don't really, aside from bringing drinks or an extra wasabi or something...
No snark intended, I feel like putting the word suicide in a header should be ample warning about the topic at hand. One should proceed with caution if that is really a trigger for them.
I think we need to be as frank as possible when it comes to suicide. Get it out there, instead of couching it in terminology. How many suicides are described as having “died unexpectedly,” or are mentioned in almost pleasant terms such as “took their own life,” “ended their own life.” Maybe a few more stories about…
“Naturopathy” is an absurdly lucrative scam. People will pay top-dollar for nothing but assurances and some sugar pills.
It sounds crazy, but sometimes I wish they had voluntary debtor’s prison. I am fairly certain I would spend 6 months to a year in jail to wipe out my 6 figure law school debt.
Right?! That’s a “light at the end of the tunnel” sum of debt. It probably cost more to collect than to let it go.
Me to! And Can you even imagine the education $1500 would have bought you in 1987. I bet he got an associates degree out of that. Today you couldn’t even pay for one semester at a low rent community college with that.
Holy shit, $1500. That’s nothing. Absolutely nothing. If I only had $1500 in student loan debt right now, I’d be dancing naked in the street.
I bet it cost more than 1500 dollars to deploy seven U.S. Marshalls. for an hour or two.
So, PennsylTucky’s all *method* or what?
They declined to work with Sarah Koenig on this, and she actually wrote them a very polite letter asking them to tell their story for this specific reason. If they weren’t willing to talk, which they weren’t, there wasn’t much to be done.
this is basically my feeling on it. Like, I don’t think Adnan should be in jail simply because his trial was so borked beyond reason. But I also understand that the family is going through absolute hell over this (and I don’t think that the podcast did a great job at providing their side of the story either)
I can’t imagine what that family is going through. As a fan of Serial, I understand that the show was designed to have entertainment value, and that must be hard to handle as the family of the murdered victim. I think this current court proceeding is warranted, but I feel horrible for Hai Min Lee's family.
