One of the challenges with the Netflix shows is how they seemed to be almost regressive in how much they were ashamed of their superhero roots. Daredevil was the only one they even dared to put in a costume, and then they were all, “Oh, no, let’s undo that now, it’s too dumb.”

it’s not like the average house there has gone up 2-3x in just a decade

Was that the case ten years ago?  I mean, the real estate market is so absurd right now that someone who managed to buy a reasonable house ten years ago may now find themselves utterly hammered by a spike home value, and with that, property taxes.  And if their credit score is also Not Great, it might be impossible

Whatever complaints one will make about Batman & Robin-- and there are plenty to make-- you can’t say it isn’t EXACTLY what it’s trying to be.  It set a goal and NAILED IT.

I’ve always wondered what the full story there was.

constructed out of montages clearly meant for Edgar Wright

I’ve seen three-hour movies that flew by. I’ve seen 82 minute movies that felt like an eternity.

The one saving grace of Garth and Kat was how clear it was that Kristin and Fred were having a great time doing it, even if it never worked otherwise.

My thesis has always been that the original concept was for the antagonist to be a version of Picard from the increasingly dark timeline that is the Kelvinverse, and then they changed it to Khan with some minor re-writes. My main reasons for this thesis is A. that’s a far better character for Cumberbatch to be cast

I remain convinced that Into Darkness was a better script at first and then someone high up on the food chain just went, “Yeah, but make him Khan, it’s gotta be Khan”.

You think?

Halfway through the movie, Vincent is killed, and then he’s there for the whole last third with no explanation whatsoever. What sloppy writing.

I mean, target acquired.  Well done.

So I’m 100% convinced they included Kurt in Team Zombie Apocalypse entirely because his Baba Yaga bit would be so on point for Zombie Wanda.

The Ultimates is clearly the inspiration on an aesthetic level, but not on a character one.  Largely because the Ultimates characters are all The Worst.

Anna Paquin did a good job portraying the character she was given, but that character is not Rogue.

Yeah, I often wonder about the people who claim that whatever kink they have is their only path, and then further when they seem to make that their entire identity.  Like, sure, you do you, but you sound like an exhausting person to be around.  Especially if you can only climax if your partner dresses like an elf

She didn’t even get to show up psuedo-redeemed at Oliver’s funeral, like, nearly EVERYONE else.

I really dig both Discovery and Picard, but I think there are perfectly valid sets for [X] in “If what you want out of Trek is [X], Discovery & Picard are not for you.”  But also, one can express those feelings without being toxic about it.

Oh, my favorite bit of that one is when Venom-Thor thinks he’s defeated everyone and you see someone in shadow and he’s all, “Oh, and who are you?” and it’s Black Bolt, who just SHATTERS Venom.
