Sounds like someone's never been to the magical land of Volvos, social democracy, and metal not being a pussy repellent.

To be fair I was going more for dated and groan-inducing. You wouldn't happen to work for Nike public relations?

Am I crazy or is Anthony Jeselnik neither offensive nor funny at all? Maybe it's his slow, stilted delivery but he just comes off as trying way too hard to be edgy.

And the new Suicidal Tendencies that came out last month. Of course even the members of Suicidal Tendencies are surprised they're still a thing.

Still more informative and entertaining than metal-archives.

Carcass' shtick- combining gory lyrics with grindcore and death metal- came from the members all being vegan hippies and attempting to equate human suffering with that of animals. It's as old as the hills, or at least 40% of AV Club commenters.

"two guys from Union states defining 'Southern Pride' for us"

I like that a guy from West Virginia claims he's a "proud rebel son".

I don't give a fuck what you recall.

All mine are futurist hipsters.

Thou bottled spider. Thou poisonous, bunch-back'd toad.

It's got some filler, but Imitation of Life seriously outclasses just about every other band when the tempo change comes in.

The original line is metal is the anime of music genres.

Don't forget all the Ron Jarzombek stuff- Watchtower, Gordian Knot, Spastic Ink, etc.

Altars of Madness. It's one of those "is it thrash? is it death metal?" albums like early Sepultura.

My high school marching band's drum major drove an 86 Ford Aerostar painted to match the Ride the Lightning cover. Only thrash can walk the fine line between completely awesome and hopelessly dorky.

The 80s Megadeth albums are great because you can tell what drug the band was on during their production. Killing is My Business and Rust in Peace are coke records, Peace Sells was when Dave switched to crack, and So Far So Good So What is his heroin phase.
