I’m a Pats fan and I cannot understand for the life of me how that wasn’t a touchdown. Never mind a fumble through the endzone and a touchback.

That is not remotely analogous. Scherzer made good pitches, and guys got hits. No one is saying he made bad pitches, or missed his spots terribly - but he didn’t get the job done. The punter’s job is to get the ball inside the 20, or inside the 10, and in your example, he did it. He hits the ball at the right angle,…
It’s not mental gymnastics. Pitching to contact that will make an out is a solid strategy rather than throw all over and trying to make the batters swing at air.
Didn’t he also plunk Jon Jay to bring in a run? That’s pretty much the definition of a pitcher not doing his job.

The Browns should have responded with a picture of a plane hitting the world trade center.
I saw this happen and the first thing that went through my mind was wondering what the write-up on Deadspin would be. You guys are always all over Breaking News (heh) in Dick and Balls, and man, you delivered.

Very conflicted, because he does make a bit of a point. Pythagorean theorem is an interesting prediction method and can show that some teams may actually be better than they appear considering point differentials, but at the end of the day, a win is a win and a loss a loss.
I don’t know. I’m trying to get the right angle to understand all of this.
It really was a solid tangent.
I would cosine his rant, but that probably isn’t a good idea considering his feeling on the Pythagorian Theorem.
it’s worth noting what he’s missing.
The Patriots got shoved into a trash compactor last night, and watching it felt wonderful. Alex Smith’s passable and…
Back when he was still with the Eagles (maybe 08 or 09), I ran into Andy Reid at Home Depot once. He was incredibly nice. It was in early September and the Eagles were getting ready to start the season. There is a Home Depot in South Philly. About 2 miles from the Linc. He is pretty easy to spot. So I went over…
I imagine this happening if the Browns ever made it to the Super Bowl
Better idea:
