I hope she takes legal action on this, too.

I hear a lot about tells and the idea fascinates me. Do you have any tips on what to look for from these types of people? Or good book/ article recommendations?

A man wouldn’t ask another random man on the street “How are you this morning?” though. It’s not just a polite question to a woman; the subtext is voluminous.

“Rihanna’s company even beat out brands like...Kylie Cosmetics.”

Slightly off-topic, I rewatched the movie Election last night and I am so fucking mad at the reviews/ perceptions of the Tracy Flick character. People hate the girl with her hand up, going the extra mile and it bothers me tremendously.

“Had I not been very good at thriving in an abusive environment, I wouldn’t have made it as long as I did...”

Exactly. She is mean-spirited and intentionally hurting people’s feelings for no discernible reason.

“This awful response could almost make a cynic like myself who has spent the better part of the 2000s reading celebrity gossip think he never came out publicly because he knew it could eventually be used as a distraction from more damning allegations that he suspected were waiting in the wings.”

Tomi, I liked it better when this woman did it - because it wasn’t deliberately mean-spirited, and it wasn’t a costume.

Sweet, smart baby.

You: She is only now an activist and feminist.

Are we arguing over whether she was a good activist, or whether she was considered (by herself and others) an activist? I thought the latter, but your repeated attempts to pivot the conversation make me think one of us is losing this argument and trying desperately to pivot.

she’s been a gay rights activist for a loooong time. any internet connection (dial-up if need be) will tell you that.

I didn’t say “all activists are inherently good.” I said the OP didn’t have the facts because he claimed Griffin’s activism is new, and factually, it’s not.

She has been an activist and feminist for a long time, so this is not some new branding ploy, as you put it.

Love “have the day of your choice.”

Starred for the good points, but also Ina.

this is what happens when commenters clearly don’t know their subject matter.

Thank you! I wanted to make the same comment, but had no idea how to phrase it.

I feel the same way.
