BEV’s are certainly ready for prime time. There is no need to continue to give those rich enough to afford a $60,000 vehicle taxpayer money. Let the technology stand on its own.

I applaud the ending of subsidies for EV’s. This tax break for people rich enough to own homes and spend $53,000 on a car has got to go. The technology is clearly ready to stand on its own. I’m looking forward to my own EV when it comes time to replace my ICE vehicle.

We have to wait and see what actually happens on tariffs; saying it and doing it are two different things. There are many Republicans opposed to tariffs.

No matter how you price it, it’s still ugly. I see a big fail coming soon.

I sure would like to buy an affordable EV, but neither political party will let me. Looks like climate change isn’t that important after all. End tariffs.

This won’t end well when the number of pedestrians hit goes way up. Then they’ll be saying racist drivers are hitting a disproportionate number of minorities.

Some of the legacy automakers won’t survive the transition. They’ll run out of money before they make a compelling government mandated EV.

Superior technology does not need to be subsidized, nor mandated by the government. Let’s remove all tariffs and let the BEV revolution propel us to a greener future.

I’m wary of articles from WAPO and AP. They are not exactly trusted news sources. Let’s see if the INS can verify this.

What is an opinion like this doing on an automotive website? Will Elon Musk and the Republicans get a chance to reply on Jalopnik? That was ugly, you could do better.

If my local RAM dealer here in California is any indication of Stellantis’ problems, they are in deep trouble. Their lots are full, the auxiliary lots are full, even some inventory is parked on the street. Guess there are not enough people willing to buy $70,000 vehicles anymore.

It will be interesting to see if the US government will bail out Stellantis when it goes bankrupt. American jobs, yes, American company, no. Maybe if Stellantis made good products there would be no need for a bailout.

Ugly still doesn’t sell. Never has, never will.

Although the technology for robotaxis will eventually get there, the business case won’t ever amount to much. Taxes will be added, liability insurance will be too high, and servicing and charging the vehicles will cost too much. A niche market at best.

To tariff or not to tariff, that is the question. On the one hand, we protect some American jobs, on the other hand, we keep a large segment of the population unable to make the transition to clean vehicles. One would think those who believe in climate change would oppose any tariffs.

Maybe instead of tariffs on all Chinese EV’s, we should just have tariffs on all Chinese EV’s that exceed a $30,000 MSRP. That way the average working guy will be able to afford one and the domestic manufacturers’ will still be protected. That would be a win for America and a win for the environment.

You really hit the nail on the head on that one. It’s been that way for quite a while. Thanks for sharing.

I am really hoping American car companies, other than Tesla, can figure out how to make compelling BEV’s before they run out of money.

Stellantis will go broke because they don’t make compelling cars. I don’t think the US government will bail them out this time.

Yes, thank you.
