I think Final Jeopardy is (generally) much easier in the college tournament, but outside of that, the overall difficult really seems to vary from category to category. Some of them are clearly geared toward things that a college kid would be learning in college. Those are the categories that fuck me up. I forgot

To be fair to Matt Lauer (an unpalatable thing in and of itself), isn't this copy just written by somebody else? All the "historic this" and "historic that" would be touted by Bob Costas, too.

Casting announcements? For this movie? If it keeps trying to pretend it's an actual movie, it's in danger of jumping the…um…you know what I mean.

I don't think "immediately firing people when they write a subpar headline" is a particularly effective way to run a web content site. You would have an incredibly high turnover rate. It just wouldn't work.

Upvote for the completely random dig on Arcade Fire. I do this on the Internet, too. I'll be reading an article about one thing that I don't have a problem with and I'll start thinking, "I wonder how I can say something negative about this other thing that I dislike." If it might irk the humans on the website, all

Yeah, good call. Also a new album by Eric Church. I know AV Club doesn't really touch modern country, but Eric Church is just good music. And…um…he's indie. If I lie about that, maybe review will be forthcoming?

Part of that has to do with the fact that America destroys the Summer Olympics. The US has 2400 total medals from the summer games. The next closest country is Great Britain at 780. When Americans are winning everything, it's going to feel like the network is just waving an American flag on TV for two weeks.

I know viewers would be fatigued if they were constantly going over judging intricacies and things like that in some of these sports, but all they have to do is get rid of one puff piece and put in a five minute primer on the rules. I would be far more invested if I had any idea why that Russian pair was better than

Alf? Pog form?

Probably.

I did not expect to be getting into an argument regarding Pete Best today, but I guess each day is a new adventure. This is a strange argument of semantics that we're having. I'm well aware of the history of The Beatles. I'm not denying that Pete Best played drums for The Beatles at one point in his life. I don't

He's a Beatle as much as Yoko Ono is. And really, Yoko had a far greater influence on the band (for better and for worse). Pete Best was the guy who played the drums because The Beatles desperately needed a drummer. He had no part in any of their actual albums (again, unlike Yoko or Billy Preston). I don't think

Interesting. I used to be put off by the coda for some strange reason (no longer am). It's one of the few Beatle songs that lets you know, obviously and completely, that it is going big. I think "Hey Jude" stormed its way into my Top Beatle Songs some time after 2007. It wasn't in there initially, but I went

They recorded it the day after the Grammy's, right? I'm guessing they invited the people they did because they were already there.

Paul: "Hey Jude"
John: "A Day in the Life" (I know the middle section is all Paul's doing, but overall it's John's show). If that doesn't count, then "Across the Universe" or "In My Life"
George: "Here Comes the Sun" or "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
Ringo: "Octopus' Garden." It has a strange sort of melancholy to

I don't even know how to pin down my favorite Beatle song. Probably "Hey Jude" or "Let it Be" (I am a sucker for the towering ballads), but it's impossible to choose. Album is a little easier, as I am a slave to nostalgia and 'Rubber Soul' was basically the beginning of my musical education.

If you'd like to live dangerously, I'm sure the torrent machinery of the world has it up.

To be fair, they didn't advertise it as a documentary with some new interviews. It was advertised as a tribute concert and all the names that performed had been advertised for the last week. Viewer beware if you expect something other than exactly what you're being sold.

You've pointed this out before? Wait, what? Is this some kind of weird bar bet you make with people? Who actively spends time pointing out Pete Best other than Pete Best?

Will Smith is not a necessary component here. If Jeff Goldblum is absent, I'm out.
