That was probably the best 7 game baseball series I have ever witnessed!
As an Indians fan, I’m crushed. As a baseball fan...damn that was a game.
These young cubs have been completly exposed.
Fans can do it too. Just don’t imply the lynching of a black man while you are doing it.
x’actly!! Simply a costume depicting the one of the most famous black men in contemporary society hanging from a noose. Stupid. But must EVERYTHING be about race these days? Sad!
The game ends on a Javy Baez base hit to right field, where the RF throws it to 2nd... who then throws it to 1st to force Javy out b/c he STILL hadn’t made it to the base? Are we sure the game didn’t have Javy Lopez programmed in there instead?
Last time Bill was a part of a historical sporting event, Daffy Duck was there. Guess what happened then? Yeah, earth was saved
So, just so we are clear here is a quick summary of Tammy Duckworth’s life:
You broke my heart with this. Thank you for writing about her great gifts, as well as her illnesses. Some people just can’t stop. I have a loved one who won’t/can’t. He is also very gifted. You did a beautiful thing, writing this.
Holy crap, Carr’s hit piece on her is despicable. How is “sportswriter accused of harassing phone calls to ex” news? What are those blind quotes other than anonymous character assassination? That’s astonishing.
Dave, thank you for doing this. From our conversations, I have a sense of how much time you spent on this. I believe your aim was true and your heart was pure. As I read this, I am both angry and sad. Sad for what happened to my friend. Angry that I only knew of her condition after she had passed, when it was too late…
Thanks for a harrowing read - if thanks is the right word. My father was an alcoholic who died from the disease, as were three of my four grandparents. This brings back a lot of sad memories. I hope Jennifer’s coworkers, friends and family don’t beat themselves up too much. I learned the hard way that it’s never about…
No snark: Thank you for this piece. Masterfully reported, incredibly well-written, utterly important.
Thanks, Mr. McKenna, and thanks Deadspin, for this piece. This is what journalism aspires to do: Capture a slice of humanity in great detail so that we can reflect on our world, our culture, and our lives.
Goddamn, this is both outstanding and tragic.
What a well written article about a truly tragic story. Thanks for this.
