Snuze: Needs another Swede

I saw this for the first time at the DC Auto Show on Sunday, and from a distance, I said that. Then I got up close and personal and changed my mind and went back to the Jeep Renegade.

My dad had a 1996 Impala SS, it was a fantastic car, and if this one is right, $8,800 is a good price. My dad always talked about doing the 6-speed conversion but never did, and ended up selling the car in the early 2000's. It only had about 5,000 miles on it and I think he sold it what he paid for it.

I'm not really sure what the call out is for. I was responding to WheelerGuys's comment about why not bump the 4.5L up to 4.8L AND add turbos.

That would be an animal of a car, a 4.8L with twin turbos, it would probably even eclipse the F12. But they did this to meet emissions and fuel consumptions targets.

This is why I wish cars would just have names again.

That's also a great idea. Even off boost you'd have so much power for such a light little car. Hmm, so many things to think about when making a Redneckigsegg.

Right, I forgot, Skyactiv is a Mazda term for a group of technologies they use in their cars. But as far as I know, it's still metal, and that means I can still cut and weld it. Maybe I can get some cute Skyactiv badges for the LSx motor in it though.

The 1.4T is a fantastic engine saddled by way too much car. One of my dream projects is to put that engine in a Lotus 7. Someone has one with a lightened flywheel, stiffer valve springs, and a ported turbo pushing 20psi and making like 225whp. That's a lot of grunt for a little engine. As it stands I have mine

Well, I'd try hard to keep the body intact, I want this thing to look exactly like a bone stock Miata from the outside. I'd also try to keep the suspension pickup points to maintain as much of the wonderful suspension and cornering capabilities of the Miata as I could. It really is a brilliant little car. But for

Same reason I purchased my Cruze. It gives me great gas mileage with a 4 cylinder port injection engine (with a timing chain) and 6 speed manual. It does have a turbo, so there's that, but about the fanciest thing in the car is the satellite radio. I think you're right on track to, all these electronic gizmos add

True, it would be pricey to build an IRS but I have an idea. The issue with a live axle is I'm not sure how to remotely get it to fit under the car. The most redneck thing to do would be go leaf springs, like on the muscle cars of yore. But I dont think theres room, let alone places to mount spring perches. The

I could probably scrounge up a few hundred bucks for a build. Which gets me, I dunno, maybe a used T56? So that would be one element.

I've already been doing some research, and I think I've come up with a motor setup to make this happen. Need to start with an LSA long block, or get an LS3 and working up, need an LSA oil pump, LSA rods & pistons, add oil squirters, swap exhaust valves for inconel, and put some 96lb/hr injectors on it. Top off with

Hmm, what if I just call it the Redneckigsegg? I doubt anyone has trademarked that.

I'm completely ok with that.

Thanks, glad you appreciate it. One of my good friends has an NC Club Racer, I keep trying to convince him to let me get my filthy paws on it and molest it's engine bay, but he keeps whining about "warranties" and "reliability," whatever those things mean. One day, though, the "Jalop Special" Redneckigsegg will

Thats what we have saw-z-alls and ball peen hammers for. And if worse comes to worst, we take the hood off and hang those snails high. This is gonna be redneck, remember?

Am I the only one who wants to build a redneck version of the Koenigsegg One:1?

It's not that no one wants to spend $50k on a Chevy, it's that no one wants to spend $50k on *this* Chevy. Trucks command a premium, the ZL1 and Corvette are "special" cars but they all fall into a different market segment where they are competitively prices.

Something about this picture makes me want this car so hard. I think its the offroading. If we could lift the suspension just a bit, give that rally stance, like a Subaru Crosstrek XV... HHHHNNNNNGGGGGGG. I'd be in heaven.
