My dad had an old 74 cuda, it was orange, I remember riding in it as a kid, I couldn’t really see out of it, but it was loud and fast. I think the obsession was born out of that car. He also had a VW bettle at one point (who didn’t?) and they bought a brand new E30 coupe, stick shift. I had a good childhood :)

Improvements have been made to cars for as long as cars have existed, and there has always been “that guy” that says cars from 10-20 years ago are better than cars from today, because cars from today are too complicated.

Oh, for sure, all my look backs are when I am sure nobody is watching, like in the comfort of my own garage, or I will position myself to where I can see it when I am inside, stealing glances at it.

I would have a hard time not looking at a 4C that’s for sure. That thing is pretty. I don’t think I have even seen one on the road yet (Sacramento sucks for car sightings).

The Miata disproves the theory because it manages to be a great drivers car despite modern improvements. I didn’t miss the point, I just disagree with it.

So the fear of death is a necessary component for you to get a thrill? See the Miata for evidence that you can have your thrill and relative safety too in a mainstream car that has kept it’s weight down and price in line with inflation since 1989.

Thank you for posting this. It’s easy to get swept up in the “poor me, we don’t get this car that I wasn’t gonna buy anyway” sentiment and not realize that we actually have it pretty good.

Are we pretending like the other FR cars that Ferrari makes are not real Ferraris? Seems odd to mention all the mid engine cars but only one front engine car. I think the F12 Berlinetta is an amazing looking car.

So can those of us who quit playing after “the dark below” get some free expansions or something? I want to give Destiny another shot, but I hardly feel like paying $60 again just to experience what I should have gotten the first time around...
