I’m not ashamed to like her music, but I am ashamed to like songs that at least according to the media are trash talking real life people (ex boyfriends, ex friends, etc.).
There’s a difference between taking inspiration from real life, which I’m sure most lyricists do, and making music directly and obviously attacking…

I honestly thought the media was just basically making shit up and blowing things out of proportion to make money, as the media tends to do.

I completely agree with you but you’re fighting a losing battle. A large group of Jezebel commenters pretend to be non-judgmental but then stories like this come out and suddenly they are the Morality Police. It’s pretty gross.
