Well, I mean, thrust is the force applied opposite the direction of travel. So technically not providing the thrust.

And hey, you were there, too! The good ol’ days of Jalopnik.
I remember arguing against the physical impossibility of it quite a while ago. According to Wikipedia, it was apparently around 10 years ago. Probably on this very website.
Reminds me of this:
In a way, I guess it’s a good thing it happened to the nice one. Could’ve totaled some of your other Jeeps.
Possibly with Calvin being electrocuted.
I just take umbrage with the CEO of a for-profit company claiming to cancel what would be their highest margin product because there’s “no need.” If there’s as much demand as being claimed, then you make it, sell, it, and either bank or use the money generated to fund the other stuff.
Ah, I just re-read his precise wording, I think it was just a misspeak? Just calling back his previously stated concerns with traction enabling he 1.9s 0-60 time, as that capability is required in conjunction with the calculated rockets to combine for enough thrust for a 1.1s 0-60 time.
Because the rockets are only providing somewhat less than half of the force. If you take the motors/tires out of the equation, you more than double all the problems he’s discussing.
So...Tesla didn’t need the extra $15K+ of profit from Plaid+ if they could’ve actually made/sold it?
But...if they’re still comparing you to others from the same zip code (or group of zip codes,) then comparatively, it should still work? Like if you brake hard less than others that drive in the same metro, you should still get lower rates, even if it’s more frequent hard braking than those in rural areas.
The demand for the Plaid Plus was very high.
The Plaid+ battery would have been ~35kWh larger than a 100kWh Plaid (tough to find actual numbers quickly.) Even at 200$/kWh (quick Googling says current prices are <$150/kWh,) it only adds $7k of cost. There may be some more differences, but very likely of that $30K price increase, >$15K would be in profit. No way…
The anti-vaxxers are one thing. The immuno-compromised, kids under 12 (including mine), and older kids of anti-vaxxer parents... I’ll be fairly conservative still.
That was my exact reaction upon seeing the wiper cost. Everything else, not knowing anything in detail about the car, ok maybe there’s something I’m missing. But there’s no way the wiper arms aren’t parts bin pieces with standard attachments, where you can buy the wipers at any auto parts store and replace in two…
This, but as a joker lap.
First sentence: Jaguar knows what they’re doing.
I’m gonna assume they intended leetspeak, and go with B-Zacks as pronunciation.
Except it's incoherent with the rest of the paragraph.
“We need to be honest about something: Jaguar does seem to know what it wants to do.”
