If you visit London it is well worth taking a trip to Crossness pumping station (aka the Cistern Chapel) on the Southern Outfall Sewer. Crossness is one of the enormous steam-powered plants Bazalgette* built to help sewage move eastwards from London towards the sewage outfalls in the estuary.

YES the St. Mungo’s scene with Neville - that was probably the single biggest thing I wish was in the movies. It really helped to develop his character. In the movies he’s just a bumbling forgetful (if nice) dweeb who suddenly finds his courage there at the end.
