When she was dating Prince Albert. My former-MIL peeked in the 1980s. She didn’t exactly marry a Morgan, but she worked at a local newspaper selling ads and writing the occasional column. These were her best years. To talk to her now, that was just yesterday, everyone knows who she is, people are still intimidated by

I mean, it’s Sonja with the sexy J we’re talking about here. Take that “advisor” role comment with a grain of salt.

Smile blankly, say nothing, maybe nod your head. I literally do this all the time to people.

Or maybe I’m relating a life experience without looking for brownie points, but I guess you can do you.

I understand that as white people, there is a lot of this that is us confronting our privilege head on, when we didn’t have to before, and when we benefited directly from it.

“News of the World” by Paulette Giles, “Roughing it” by Mark Twain, “Americanah” by C.N. Adichie, “Middle Passage” by Charles Johnson, “The Marriage of Opposites” by Alice Hoffman

David Sedaris’ books - he does the audio himself, he’s hilarious. Anything read by Stephen Fry is a delight.

best audiobook I have ever listened to is running with scissors by Agusten Burroughs. I was laughing so hard I had to pull the car over. If you want something more serious -everything I never told you by Celeste Ng was fantastic. My 2 YA picks are true letters from a fictional life by Kenneth Logan and I will give you

Just finished Kindred by Octavia Butler, it was really good, and the actress was fantastic.
You said that you did not really like science fiction, but it’s a really ligth one, more in the historical fiction category, but it’s a time travelling book (like Outlander)

Behind the Beautiful Forevers

1776 and John Adams, by David McCullough and Medium Raw and Kitchen Confidential, by Anthony Bourdain. All are read by the authors, and both of them have really nice voices to listen to. Also, I have an addiction to lectures from The Teaching Company - they have some top-rated college professors that teach classes on

Hi there! I just finished Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American city by Matthew Desmond. It was incredible; i don’t know if it’s on Audible but if it isn’t definitely worth the listen. It’s an emotionally taxing book so be prepared to be in your feelings.

The one’s stuck out the most for me were Miracle at St.Anna and Demolition Angel (Robert Crais). The one one that was so bad it was good: Brotherhood of the Rose (David Morrell), it was multiple voice actors and a narrator edited together very awkwardly with these long pauses as the narrative switched back and forth

“Unbroken” narrated by Edward Hermann is maybe one of the best marriages of story & narrator to ever exist. It is fantastic—far better than the movie.

I am a huge fan of Scott Brick and his audio books. Jurassic Park was especially amazing.

I’ve never listened to it, only read it, but “The God of Small Things” by Arundhati Roy is a beautiful novel if you haven’t read it already. Also, anything by Julia Alvarez.

You don’t have the votes. You don’t have the votes. (Aha-ha ha ha!) You’re gonna need Congressional approval and you don’t have the votes.

The Republicans are trying to avoid a ‘youtube moment’ or whatever, but not showing up makes them look even worse, IMO.

I’m glad it was scary and not, “the story of that time I shot a guy”.
