I doubt that the metal pieces on this car will be the issue, though. My bet is that crazy failures of the electronics and airbag systems will be the substantial majority of the problems that creep in. You are basically committing yourself to an entire reengineering of the electrical system.

Adding throttling as an option does not mean your phone is automatically slowed. It means that when iOS registers that your battery has started to decay to the point where it may cause issues, it has the ability to implement throttling. Just because they added a throttling option to the X doesn’t mean every X is now…

As I recall from when I visited Houston, the disabling of the system was, in part, at the demand of the flight crew. The two astronauts in those seats didn’t want the option if everyone didn’t have it.

The first two shuttles actually did have two ejection seats, but once they moved past the development stages and started flying with more than two crew, they decided the only ethical option was to not allow any crew to eject.
