I wonder if there is a way to make it road legal by going the ‘kit car’ route. You buy it with the motor in a crate next to it and you have to plop it in, or something along those lines? Or do those kit cars need to be based off an existing car? If so how much of that existing car needs to remain, 51% 10%?

You are missing the Forester xt, it checks all the boxes you talk about minus the manual. 2.0 twin scroll turbo engine similar to the wrx, practical, crossover/SUV. Now im not saying a CV xt isn’t a good idea, I think I would take one over a FXT, its just that they would be pretty similar.
