Also saved my brain. I was sure I knew him from something but it just wouldn't come to me! Thanks.

I wouldn't use the word "misogynist". Greedy, ambitious, uncaring sure. But there's no sign he hates women more then he wants success.

It took you to the next to last paragraph to credit John Cassavetes, as a smug, arrogant, sleazy, bastard with the credit due. He brings a lot to the film. The real horror in the story is that it is so matter of fact about it. International cabal of Satanists with their own literature, their own holidays and their

I think they're both at the age where this is an everyday occurrence.

"Why [insert name of politician you hate] is the Anti-Christ"

People owned slaves in the US before 1865 so who are we to be so smug about people more than a thousand years ago?

Which raises a point that has puzzled me for decades. I grew up Jewish so maybe I just don't get Christianity. Why are people punished in Hell? I mean Hell is run by the Devil, the Devil is evil, so why aren't bad people welcomed in Hell and treated well? By the same logic Heaven should be nothing but punishment

Actually it's "Tom Cruise Is Jack Reacher: I Shouldn't Have Gone Back"

I thought he was Clifton Webb in "Laura".

Now you know how I feel about the Dixiecrats.

"No wonder you have no teeth. Look how bad your gums are." Thank you, one of the first dirty jokes I heard.

Speaking of which - The Visitor (1979) had a very spooky opening. Then it turned into an Exorcist rip-off with Space God and Space Jesus.

Used and overused. "The monster is certainly dead, so why not lean over it with my face inches from its fangs?"

I never thought that if you followed the Alien timeline backwards you'd find monsters. I thought they started out a household pets that got trapped on a ship and then evolved to survive. Sort of like Cat on Red Dwarf, but without the fashion sense.

Unfortunately, it sucked you into the longest, most boring and pointless horror film imaginable.

The only question I have is "why"? It was obviously a giant, highly expensive project, but for what reason? I don't remember it being explained in the movie, and the only answer I was able to come up with Pay-Per-View.

When something is first, it has to compete with all the remakes and copycats until it no longer seems original. I experienced that with Wages of Fear. I didn't see it until I had seen copies in the Old West, in Space and, of course, Sorcerer. By the time I saw the original, it was old news.

My choice for most terrifying opening in horror is The Rapture. Before we even meet
Mimi Rogers, we hear her voice over a dark screen. "Operator 12, what listing?
Residential or business? Hold for the number. Operator 12, what listing?

Everyone should watch "Singing in the Rain" (and not just because I get a royalty) which covered this perfectly. Especially with Jean Hagen as the silent star most likely to lose her career. Watch the face of the men when she protests that of course she can talk - (high squeaky voice) "Of course, I talk. Don't
