I can’t lie, whenever I encounter stories like these, I can’t help but feel a bit of discomfort. Sure, this is a nice gesture, but it’s so small.

Cutting their funding would make a difference because that money pays for their training, and part of their training clearly teaches them to dehumanize POC when they interact with us. That’s police culture, but the money funds the culture. They’d think and act differently with less.

“Defund the police” harmed the Black Lives Matter movement and anyone who refuses to admit that isn’t acting in good faith.

I understand the desire and we should definitely stop doing the executions but maybe leave this on the books until we’ve had a chance to deal with some of these traitors. I’d be really pissed if we missed out on the chance to execute Mike Flynn.

If you defund all the cops will do is take that money from departments that deal with sex crimes or animal abuse or crimes against children. They will go back to not processing rape kits.
