Whenever I see a picture of her, I think of Quint’s speech from Jaws...

So be it. I like him a lot but this isn’t his moment.

She knows that this will go nowhere so she’s basically just trolling him now.

Thank you for saying this. This primary is hell and I hate it.

Given the nature of Democrat elections, I don’t understand why every campaign doesn’t have a person (or a whole team of persons) whose sole job is to wake up each morning and say, “What do we need to do to build our support with Black voters today?”

Since the whole point of a VP is that they are basically backup in case the president dies, Bernie as a VP would make no sense for anyone in this field. Obama flipped the script by naming Biden his VP but in general the VP should be around the same age or younger. Even Bush and Cheney are only five years apart. (Which

The number on in my power rankings is Bill de Blasio for actually having had the sense to get the hell out of the race today.

Exactly. The implication is that she “danced on 9/11" when the towers came down.

Trump is a raging pile of bullshit but from what I see the real villain here is that Terrance Williams creature. He’s obviously trying to leverage Trump’s malevolence for attention.

Perhaps he was drinking or doing drugs. Perhaps he’s not a citizen. Perhaps he’s gay or bi or trans. Perhaps he knows his attackers. Perhaps he thinks that pressing charges will only make him a target of more hate and violence.

He just put a big ass spotlight on her. Joy must be thrilled.

I’ve read this a couple of times now and I’m just trying to get clear on something. Is this piece criticizing the victim of a hate crime for not wanting to press charges?

Okay, I get that. I’m not trying to be salty I’m just concerned that the committee is just a bunch of millennial men. The base of the party is black women and the voters that will pick the nominee are black voters in the south many of whom are over the age of 40. I’m hoping the committee reflects that.

First time reading the Black Power Rankings, or forgotten how I (Dr. Jason Johnson Politics Editor of the Root) and Marcus Ferrell, Former Head of African American Outreach for Bernie Sanders 2016 and our rotating committee put together our list?

Glad to see Amy Klobuchar make the rankings. The lack of attention she’s gotten is part of the reason I’m so angry at some of the prank candidates running. Unlike so many in this race, she’s a serious candidate who cares about details. We’re going to need that post-Trump.

I wonder what it’s like for John Lewis to look around at this country and see where we are now.

I was wondering if anyone at The Root was going to address Bernie’s latest controversy. The funny thing is that I hate Bernie Sanders with the heat of a thousand suns but watching people want to start censoring language in books made me uncomfortable as hell.
