I’m about your age and we learned about Reagan in my history classes but we didn’t learn about Margaret Thatcher. My first cultural awareness of a UK prime minister was probably Tony Blair, and that was because of media coverage of Love Actually.

I’m closer to her age (31), and even in AP US History, we barely made it to Nixon. Current events really weren’t discussed much. Most of my contemporary knowledge about Bush was because I was involved in my school’s debate club and Young Dems chapter.

Given how many grown adults in the US were completely obtuse to Bush then and remain so now, I’m inclined to give the famous actress from a different country a break.

She...isn’t really an influencer. She has done actual work raising money and pushing for progressive causes, particularly around body positivity and negative stigma.
