man - I just finished (yay boring hotel nights) and the main thing I’m thinking is: where the fuck was Ghost Rider? From 2-3 eps prior when they first randomly referenced him my mind immediately went to “hell ya, Chekhov’s Ghost Rider!” but apparently it was all for naught.

What’s next sheep-people? Sheeple? INFOWARS WAS RIGHT

Agree with latter point. You’re right; I was conflating s. 5 and 6. The Dorne subplot from s.6 was bad because of the sandsnakes + elaria killing dr. bashir simply because the showrunners realized they didn’t write any of it well, so they just needed to end it. Was a bad sign of things to come.

Overall, sure. Not as good as s. 1-5 but I still enjoyed it. The Dorne subplot wasn’t great but everything still worked better than most tv shows.

I’m apparently in the minority based on comments but I think s. 1-6 are some of the best tv seasons around. 7 and 8 aren’t good, so if you can make it to 7, just read a synopsis or watch in the background while doing something else. Some of the battles and setpieces are still the best around, for both tv and film, imo.

About to finish my re-listen of Blueprint for Armageddon so I feel like the prime target for this.

Welcome to Trump’s America’s Britain. Thanks Obama!

As a man, part of me is excited that through the of (probable) use of steroids and the sucking of young actors’ blood I, too, can look like Tom Cruise in my late 50s.

I agree with most of that but, honestly, feel pretty torn about the future. Netflix “caters” its users to certain works it views as valuable like theaters of the past and they do affect the culture (see: Stranger Things). Critics and people can complain this dumbs down “art”, but they’ve been doing that forever (eg.

His seemingly self-aware attitude about the absurdity of its popularity makes it cool with me.

Saying that it’s “woke” for people to be upset or weirded out by a dude who raped a kid and didn’t face consequences is a pretty bad take. Maybe just my opinion.

I think we’re hitting some weird territory now though, as many tv shows and tv movies *do* have higher standards and production values than many movies. It’d be wild to think that many of the “big” Netflix movies (i.e. the ones we’re talking about that are being entered into these contests) didn’t have as high of

quality? I’d have no problem with Lifetime submitting their shit, but why would they?

...the dude raped a kid

So literally all Netflix would have to do is show one of their films at a single theater for a week or less and you’d be happy with them competing?

The biggest problem is that conservative moderates or even apathetics mostly do see the outrage on the left (especially someone like Clinton’s) as faux outrage. It’s so easy for someone to become cynical when the person calling someone else out for lying or cheating to get ahead is only slightly better. Obviously

“Old” Will Smith doesn’t look very different than de-aged Will Smith.

I partially agree - I will still mark out to most MCU films but my excitement has diminished a ton. Still haven’t seen the new Spiderman, though I want to, but I would be happy with only one movie every 1-2 years for a while.
