The thing I remember about it all (outside of the Mountain’s thumbs pushing into Oberyn’s eye sockets - no thanks) is the dead silence for a beat right after the pop, followed by Ellaria’s blood curdling scream to end the episode. Wild stuff.

the kicker for the “Oh look, the pie!” was Joffrey hacking it so hard he killed the birds inside. I knew his death was coming but the show made built it up his shittiness so well even just within this episode.

Gas is less “sugar” and more generally “food”; sure it could be used more efficiently/less, but taxing it is still going to screw over the poorest more than anyone else. Cheap housing doesn’t always have good jobs within walking or mass transit distance, and many families would have to leave their communities/extended

Naysayers got to say “LOL I TOLD YA SO!” after the CPD gave its ‘evidence’, so now the sanctimonious commentariat get to come back and say “I TOLD YA SO LOL!”

No clue what went on with Smollett, but I think we can safely agree that the CPD is always guilty.

This reminded me of what happened on my super-exciting bachelor party: me, my brother, and 2 friends took Amtrak from STL to KC. We’re all in our 30s so it was literally just going to be a laid back 1 day/1 night trip there and back, visiting new bars etc. for something to do.

Ya definitely. I feel “bad” for the showrunners and writers (who are wiping away their tears with thousands of crumpled hundred dollar bills), whose need to set everything up for the finale was basically an impossible feat. Honestly, for all its problems if we get a couple of entertaining Loot Train attack sequences

I mostly agree with you; it felt like 1-4 they could follow along all the books’ careful machinations and it was fascinating to watching seemingly realistic people (for ya know a fantasy series) interact with each other and the world. By season 5 it felt like they got to the we-must-figure-out/set-up-the-end-game mode

Chapo’s interviewing meme creators now?

I literally threw A Sword of Storms across the room when I finished reading that chapter, it made me so distraught. Somehow knowing everything that was coming I was still as horrified by watching it unfurl on screen. For all the show runners’ faults, especially in the latter seasons, they definitely know how to pull

I enjoyed WW but, man, once they got to the trenches all I could think about was why they went to such great lengths to rip off everything from Captain America’s second half down to “K-Mart-brand” howlin commandos and a main character having to sacrifice himself via a plane to stop a horrible weapon. That soured me on

jesus, that’s gotta be fake right?

Gump appears in the youtube mohammed video that was initially blamed for the attack.

free idea for Charlie Brooker: a phone that’s also - surprise - a gun!

[Gump leaves NYC tour bus]

Only reason I even commented on this was from ABC’s podcast giving me a little more insight about the insanity. Just binged it all yesterday and this morning.

Yeah, totally, but while Jobs was clearly the showman/front man forcing others to do the heavy, he at least had a background in the tech he was slinging.

Basically, from what I can tell it’s the hubris of the ultra-privileged that made her think she could create a biotech company with essentially zero knowledge of medicine or technology; she clearly believed someone like Steve Jobs made Apple huge only through charisma and fake-it-til-you-make-it assery.

ok, but now they didn’t?

It’s been a while, but didn’t Andy’s sister get all the toys in TS3? THE TIMELINE CONTINUITY IN THIS CHILDREN’S MOVIE IS IMPORTANT TO ME.
