I can’t remember what I was reading or listening to that discussed Reynold’s handsomeness getting in the way of his comedic sensibilities, but totally agree with that. A jokey attractive guy comes across as too much of an asshole to be likable, so the mask was a must. 

“I am a fan of Seth’s” and “squandered on sophomoric bullshit” seem to be contradictory. Also, while every space show from the last 50 years has been derivative, I gotta disagree on the cheapness/low quality point. Not 100% here, but I read it that you would expect someone who’s an atheist to find worth in living regardless, not because of, of their atheism - i.e. there’s nothing so there’s nothing to square. But for some reason Gervais finds a need to talk about his atheism even though the existence or non-existence of a deity…

To add my typing to this, if the only concern is distribution then I guess no movie with a limited theatrical release should be an Oscar-contender as lord know shlups like me in the Midwest aint ever seeing them outside of renting or streaming.
