I was a little worried about Captain Marvel given the mediocre reviews from sites like this one - “underwhelming” was the term I think. Maybe it was my lowered expectations but I really enjoyed it watching it yesterday. It wasn’t a top tier MCU film but right up there with Doctor Strange and the IM sequels. Better

I can’t remember what I was reading or listening to that discussed Reynold’s handsomeness getting in the way of his comedic sensibilities, but totally agree with that. A jokey attractive guy comes across as too much of an asshole to be likable, so the mask was a must.

“I am a fan of Seth’s” and “squandered on sophomoric bullshit” seem to be contradictory. Also, while every space show from the last 50 years has been derivative, I gotta disagree on the cheapness/low quality point. Absolutely agree it’s a self-indulgent vanity project, but, given it’s clearly been that since before

I had to shove my dumb fat head into a toilet for being excited and thinking this is incredibly cool.

Possibly, sure, but that’s separate from finding value without an afterlife/ no god. I just read the scene as just being annoying though. Look at all the people who get upset at someone like Chris Pratt because he says “I LOVE JESUS!” or whatever. I’m not an atheist, but I eye roll most of those types of god-proclamat

Not 100% here, but I read it that you would expect someone who’s an atheist to find worth in living regardless, not because of, of their atheism - i.e. there’s nothing so there’s nothing to square. But for some reason Gervais finds a need to talk about his atheism even though the existence or non-existence of a deity

6 amazing season but 1 middling albeit entertaining season was all it took? I’m super pumped even if this season is same level as last season. Granted, I am only 9 years old.

hmmm he’s a little too wiry

I still believe they’re all the same person.

So in this pre-pre-production or whatever it’s in, is the movie about 1998's MGS, so Isaac would be playing Solid Snake/Liquid Snake? Or would it be about 1960s Snake? Or post 1970s Snake/Big Boss? Or 1980s fake Snake?

To add my typing to this, if the only concern is distribution then I guess no movie with a limited theatrical release should be an Oscar-contender as lord know shlups like me in the Midwest aint ever seeing them outside of renting or streaming.

looks like we’ve all given up on any hope this movie will be good. over/under on whether it will be better than apocalypse?

Only appreciate green book winning when I trick myself into thinking farrelly won for the vastly superior Dumb & Dumber 25 years late.

It’s always nice to have some understanding in our fractured world.

Hmmm, I just ran the numbers by the University of Chicago School of Economics and we’ve determined that I’m correct. Sorry.

This was actually funny though

i just had the same stuck-in-deadspin-greys thought

No joke, I just got really excited thinking of the final battle in Return of the King where the realms of man are losing and then you hear an off screen screech and an army of eagles arrives. I would lose my shit if something similar happens here with an off screen howl and a goddamn doggo army destroys the white

My favorite memory from watching Avatar was going with a few friends to Walmart before to stock up on candy for the theater (sue me). We all got the usual: red vines, beer, m&ms. Except my Ukrainian friend who felt the best movie snack was a 6-pack of yogurt. Half way through that long ass movie in a packed theater he

To each their own. I don’t feel their perspective is that relevant post-2016, but, like I said (or implied), that’s just my opinion. Don’t fault anyone for disagreeing.
