These are similar to small Transformer style toys McDonald’s included in their happy meals. They turned from food items into McDonald’s mascots. I believe, but could be totally wrong, that they were released after the Transformers animated movie.

I don’t disagree that accessibility is a great thing to have in games. I just don’t believe that developers should be lampooned for creating a specific, crafted, difficult experience, if they’re not interested in capturing a wide audience. Not every game has to appeal to everyone.
Jason, I’ve been a developer on more than one of these types of monolithic ambitious-but-aimless projects that eventually lurches over the finish line (late). You’ve gone through months (or years) of very real suffering to get it to that point, and when it arrives, you’re embarrassed at what’s been put out. It’s…
There are so many games out there, Joshua. This one just isn’t for you, and that’s okay. It doesn’t need to bend over backwards with an easy mode.
These articles, while absolutely incredible, all become depressingly similar after a while. And again, I don’t mean that as a knock on you, because I love your work and look forward to your deep inside looks.
Pretty robust, my nephew got one of the kits and we built the fishing one together. It seemed like a ridiculous set up but once we got to actually play the game it felt like witchcraft.
Or it could be a perfect opportunity to gaze into the rotten core of our soul as a nation and do something meaningful about gun control instead of just accepting that we need dystopian drills like this in the first place.
Funtime story: Back when I was doing a ton of launch coverage for the original Xbox, I *loved* the DoA that launched with it (3?). When everyone was gushing about Soul Caliber—a game still played on entirely flat surfaces with fairly basic defense options—here was a game where nearly every arena had multiple levels, co…
1. Yeah, I do think that BoxBoy (and the Joker release for Smash) is the April game. That said, May is wide open, and the rumor about Metroid Prime Trilogy is that it’s done and just waiting for a slot, and I could see why they’d maybe hold that back from the Direct, so maybe that’s it.
2. From a financials…
Man, that Link’s Awakening announcement hit me like a Oprah audience member who just got a free car or house or bees. I still play through the D-Generation X GBC version at least once a year.
Stephen, I think you should check out the Flip Grip: https://www.fangamer.com/products/flip-grip
Normally, it has to be planned well in advance to be shoehorned into the extremely busy schedule of the president.
I understand the frustrations of these players but if your main source of income comes from streaming a single game (or if you are a content creator of any sort really) and it’s not on your own platform that you built, you have to expect these kinds of developments. You are at the mercy of the platforms in which you…
I like Smash ok, but I really fucking hate the fanbase. This game has literally every Smash character ever, plus a decent amount of new ones, and they’re still constantly disappointed by every single announcement.
Solution: Don’t leak confidential documents about things that aren’t worth legal trouble.
I wish dev teams would take care more about AI, environmental physics, and other still neglected areas than just graphical world building. Open world games these days are sinfully glutinous in their scope. The human brain can only accept so much visual detail and we’ve reached incredible diminishing returns on…
My list would include Suikoden 1-2, Lunar 1-2, SaGa Frontier, Xenogears, Final Fantasy Tactics, Brave Fencer Musashi, Breath of Fire 3, Chrono Cross, Vagrant Story, Ogre Battle, Grandia, and so on...
Kirk, this is easily the best game review I’ve ever read, but also the best writing of any kind that I’ve read on this website. I enjoyed your creative narrative prose over the the technical trappings of FPS and other “data.”
I found this headline to be much more trashy and manipulative than a typical Jezebel headline, and was sincerely surprised. Titles like this are why I refuse to read BuzzFeed. So far all my comments have been approved, so if this one isn’t at least we know why.
