Anytime something that should happen doesn’t, my friends and I scream out ‘XCOM NUMBERS!!!”

CDPR is not the one you want to yell at though. Their perspective of crunch is way better than the average in the industry. They were trying to prevent it, and they were upfront when its needed, and they regret it. Read more

Nice, learned a new term today. Do you know a good way to see total short contracts still out there? I don’t know enough about that side of the market to see if short sellers all bailed out.

Tesla is still very much in the growth phase. Every dollar coming in goes to a project that will attempt to earn more money rather than giving their investors dividends. Amazon was a major loss for a while, then they owned the whole market and made a killing. Part of the stock price is trying to predict that future Read more

What do these numbers mean, exactly, for anyone who isn’t a Tesla shareholder, a Tesla short, or Musk himself? They mean that a bunch of investors have opted to place bets that Tesla will be successful long-term, but that is all the stock price means. Read more

I guess it isn’t too surprising, but it’s good to know just how slow the Model X is among the range. It really makes you wonder why you wouldn’t just get the S. Read more

I owned an i3 which got me 150 miles in good weather or under 100 on the highway in the winter, and it was just not enough range to use for any trips. Sometimes it had no chargers in range, other times it had only slow ones or unreliable ones. Read more

The 3 would not exist if not for the impact the S had. And both are really still beyond the ‘everyman car’ price range. If they built a million 3s at $25k-$35k, then I would agree, but most are still in the BMW 3-series price range.

We are on the tipping point, but there is one massive slowdown, the infrastructure. Every time I watch a science fiction movie showing the future, and its a whole new city built up, and only like 10 years out, I laugh. How did they rebuild NY in a decade with 300 story tall buildings. Read more

I think there is a quote somewhere along the lines of “Even if Tesla fails, getting the market to switch to EVs is still a success.” I have zero memory of where I heard it though. Read more

We could hope this event at least might shed some light on the overly aggressive justice system in Japan and maybe it triggers some change. Read more

I would think a simple solution is to cap the price an engine can be sold for. Merc wouldnt put that much development into something they could only sell for a few $. It would work best if they were all identical though, but I’m pretty sure you can customize them a little, even if they are built by the same brand.

I do like teams trying to spend money in different ways. I hope the rules are not so strict that everyone just ends up with the same thing. Its great when some teams have a low drag high speed car, or a low speed cornering grip chassis, etc.

Replacing a battery pack does not mean carbon footprint just doubled. The original pack can be used in other forms such as grid management or home storage with very little overhead. Also thinking that a pack is expected to be replaced frequently at 100k miles is just a bad design on the pack. The number of recharge Read more

Great point about the school dangling a carrot of beauty and immortality. Sadly the writing made it seem forceful rather than manipulative.

I was also quite confused about the cost of the procedure, and what exactly the sculptor did. First it seemed like he was going to make her hot, then they said, nope you just get a crappy dress, then she decided to do it anyway on her own terms, THEN a few episodes later shes blaming the school for what they ‘took’ Read more
