Oh, I had no qualms with Maher booking him. I find Milo to be an odious, crass opportunist, but in my book that's really all he is. While I understand (and to an extent agree with) a lot of the fierce criticism surrounding him, I feel that all this refusing to talk to him or allowing him to speak is giving him…
The most critical Maher got was when he poo-pooed Milo for being a Trump supporter. I wasn't expecting the guy to tar and feather him, but I expected him to ask tougher questions about his statements regarding trans people and the BLM movement. He didn't broach them at all.
I feel the same about her Daily Show appearance. A lot of people say Noah didn't press her enough, but I honestly think it's because he didn't need to. His moderate questioning made her stumble plenty.
Fuck. That's even worse. I never had the stomach to ask the full details about what happened with that. You were robbed, Mike. Not that you need me to tell you.
Gingold is super nice. I remember talking to him at Fangoria-sponsored horror flick screening at the Yonkers Alamo. When I mentioned I was a new intern he shook my hand and said "welcome aboard." felt awesome.
I interned for Fangoria toward the end of my time in college and got to know a lot of the other writers who worked for it. Ken Hanley in particular is a super cool and talented guy; as fucked as it was when Gingold walked, Ken becoming EIC seemed to be its own kind of validation. It was so depressing to see the mag…
He's directed three movies, and written a bunch more, and they all reek of his voice.
His videos on Cronenberg's use of the body and Shane Black's fixation with awkward, more realistic violence were both great summations of the respective filmmakers' styles.
Oh my God, the small DVD collection part hits the nail on the head so hard. I actually envisioned titles of films sitting in collections in my friends living rooms that fit this description perfectly.
Aww, they killed Sclopio Peepio? I was kinda warming up to that one…
I watched a few episodes as they premiered this summer. There were like, two or three sketches that I found interesting. The rest just kind of fell flat. I pride myself on having pretty out there taste, but I honestly found myself scratching my head with a lot this show; and not in a good "oh, this seems like it's got…
IIRC, there's plenty of creepy sex shit in The Conformist.
I'll cede to your point that he's had several flops (though I actually dug American Ultra), but are you actually going to try and tell me that he's gotten this far being John Landis' son? John Landis, the guy who's career peaked in the 1980's? Yeah, he's directed some classics, but the culture of Hollywood production…
He's a successful screenwriter who's moved on to being a show runner. He already happened.
Hey man! I was born in 1991 so… yeah, not the best year for the world.
Well there was the fact that they were initially pursuing Steve Coogan's character for something as mundane as not having scaffolding permits, and that was what led them to discovering that there was financial fuckery and corporate money laundering going on.
I suppose, But I consider Step Brothers and The Other Guys to be pretty out there in certain respects, particularly with the latter's focus on white collar crime in a buddy cop flick, which I thought was great.
How normal was the first half?
Also "Ging Gang Gong De Do Gong De Laga Raga" was pretty kick ass. Or as my cousin refers to it "Ding Dang Dong Da Ding Daga Doogie Houser."
