When 16% of the world’s population uses 80% of its resources (and hey, want to guess where that 16% almost exclusively lives?) no, it’s not overpopulation that’s to blame for their depletion.

Because the unexamined racism that goes along with those attitudes (and I’m being generous to those who’re making their arguments from ignorance not active malice) is so baked-in; it’s an essential part of the way we frame these issues in most Western popular discourse.

The problem is not overpopulation — a concept that only seems to be fearmongered over when it comes to non-majority-white nations — but resource distribution. We have more than enough for all; we choose not to allocate it equitably.

Honestly, I’d support repeal of the 2nd and disarmament of the entire population, provided cops and white supremacists (but I repeat myself) went first. Until then, while I’m certainly not a “fan” of firearms, nah.
