That cast gets a bad rap for being largely experienced and well established comedians. A ”Murderer’s Row” of TV/film funny. As opposed to fresh faced unknowns from prior casts.

Mel Brooks in parody mode with Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, High Anxiety comes close. The key to those films was a genuine love of the genres being lampooned.
He is probably a very nice person in real life. But his on screen persona irritates me most times. But evidently not enough to keep me from seeing films with him in them.
Ethan Hawke definitely honed the self entitled douche persona he would carry on into the entirety of his career.
