Ok, I could use some school help. I'm a grown up person who needs to finish their bachelor's degree. I was studying urban planning a few years ago, but there was no way for me to complete my last bit of classes and work at the same time. I had a job that I loved that paid well and came with a magic pension. I worked Read more

If all the curling can be set to either End of Time or Crazy in Love AND there are dance intermissions, I might watch. It'll probably just look like people cleaning the kitchen to hot jams...ie, the best way to do it and something we can all relate to.

A lot 0f my closet is made of of clothing that I loved but had put aside after a baby. My mom is an amazing thrift store shopper and gifted me a bunch cool stuff she'd bought in the 70's. I also really like eBay, and it can be a great place to get new stuff. As long as you take into account the shift in vanity sizing Read more

I try to only make resolutions that I'm half way certain I'll see through March. Two years ago I set a shorter skirts-brighter lipstick mandate. My frumpy work wardrobe spilled over to my everyday look, and my family gave me a sweatpants intervention. It was well needed. I mean, I only wore my highest quality Read more

Thank you! I love, lurve, luff Back to the Future. It's the ultimate in holiday films for my family. When I was a little girl, we didn't celebrate Christmas. When Back to the Future came out, we saw it every chance we could in the theaters. My mom, ever the tricksy parent, said that '85 was going to be the big year Read more

The "house band" at my kid's school played this song ALL YEAR! They didn't have a vocalist, but there were always a few parents trying hard to to humble the lyrics. Dancing was, and is encouraged.

DCI Jane Tennison from the original Prime Suspect. She's brilliant, tenacious, and hard as nails. Helen Mirren is amazing...my money would always be on Tennison to save my ass in a pinch. Idris Elba was wonderful in Luther, but sometimes I find his character to be too emotional/prone to recklessness.

This was the first Beyonce album I've bought since Destiny's Child. I put my Aailiyah on pause for this record. Does not happen often! How can you not love Blow? It's like Beyonce does the Teaches of Peaches. Time to get back to dancing...

Can we make it a class action suit? I think there are more than a few ladies who deserve a cut of the action.

I think "mansplaining" is just male bitchiness/cattiness. We just don't call them on it.

RiotPoof, you are in my head! It's really hard to be the divorced, atheist brown mom in my little town sometimes. When it comes to the little things, I don't have much in common with most of the moms I meet. And my best friend lives half way across the country. Sometimes it feels like such a huge gulf.

I love Big Freedia. I just bought my ticket him, and I'm so excited. I do think that Atlanta could have backed things up so much better than NYC. Hmmm, city wide twerk challenge?

Does anybody remember the SNL Cotton Land sketch with Eddie Murphy and Stevie Wonder? It was a theme park where white people could work off all that white guilt. I'm kind of amazed I couldn't find a clip. That sketch is gold...
