Of course it didn't break any records. People know the true successor to the DS is just a few months away. Better to spend $200 on that than a regurgitated DS with two super-sized screens.

@GtheMVP99: The free market approach doesn't work. If it did, Bobby's ass would have met the other side of the door after Tony Hawk RIDE flopped, or after he deep-sixed Guitar Hero. At the rate things are going, he'll go down with the ship after driving Activision to bankruptcy.

They never saw this coming? THEY NEVER SAW THIS COMING?! How could you not see this coming? I'm not even a fan of the series and I could see this coming! Only a masochist would stick around for the kind of treatment Activision was giving Infinity Ward.

@Wolfnave: You can tell yourself that, but you're still missing out. Any "hardcore" gamer who would turn their nose up at New Super Mario Bros. Wii is no gamer at all.

Oh yeah, strangling Cheney with your bare hands. I am SO there.

They gave Halo 2 players a three month subscription to Xbox Live as a pay-off. What did fighting game fans get? Abso-freaking-lutely nothing. It really shows where Microsoft's priorities lie. If you're not a Halo zombie, you don't matter to balding Ballmer and his tech thugs.

@stimpak.addict: Funny, that's what I said when Microsoft shut down the Xbox servers.

@Neko_Tech: It's not defying gravity. Quite to the contrary... the girl's vagina has its own gravitational pull. It's called Madonna Syndrome.

@Silentkiller2774: They can't. Kotick controls that division of the company as well.

@JonnyPark: Weren't you one of the Power Rangers?

@Jonn: You think so? I've been using my AceKard for COLORS (a neat drawing utility that creates PNGs you can transfer to your computer) and emulators. Flash cartridges are getting less attractive for piracy because recent DS games have copyright protection measures built into them.

@ThursdayNext: When you lead a reader to a false conclusion, that's misLEADing, hence the name. If the author had said "New SA Attorney-General Not Necessarily Pro R18+," or "New SA Attorney-General Neither For or Against R18+," or "New SA Attorney-General Yet to Decide on Game Ratings," that would have been more

This is a misleading headline (Kotaku's stock and trade, it would seem). Just because Rau hasn't made a decision doesn't mean that he is not pro R18+. It just means he's undecided.

@Aara Farshad 'Malik' Davoodi: No, because I'd have purchased them already*. The argument that "movies are perennial" is stupid for a rental service to make, because not only is this NOT the case nine times out of ten, but because you'll want to buy the truly excellent films that fit that description, effectively

That's a pretty shortsighted and self-serving view in my opinion. Some games *are* perennial... Tetris, Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, Gunstar Heroes, and Street Fighter Alpha 2 just to name a handful. On the other hand, who's going to remember Rush Hour ten years from now? The people who do will probably be eager to forget.

Well, that didn't tell me anything.

"why am I recruiting somebody for a mission I've already finished?"

This isn't really what customers wanted, though. They wanted the complete abolishment of the Microsoft point system in favor of using real money to purchase items. Microsoft hinted at doing just that but gave us this wimpy compromise instead, making me wonder if they're going to actually make that slimline system
