Respectfully I disagree. The report is largely a marketing buoy by MIC that cherry picks information to portray a false positive narrative.

There simply are not more motorcyclists on the road. Not only are new riders not buying new, but the volume of new street riders in the market is substantially lower than any time…

Yep, they missed all of the details about how the US street market in general is suffering badly, not just HD.

However, as HD is an industry bellwether, this detail can be pretty reliably inferred.

UK market is dynamically different and far more healthy for street riders than the US market.

Pull off-road from that report and things don’t look quite as positive.  Street’s in a bad place right now.

No (well few) new riders. There are a plethora of reason why people are choosing not to ride, and honestly most of them are of legitimate concern. It’d be a whole post to dig into it, but suffice to say the industry (MIC) knows there’s an issue, and to this point has presented no real idea of how to deal with it.

It’s not accurate. Well, more accurately, it’s skewed. There are fewer riders now than pretty much any time in recent memory. 

There is an overall decline happening for street product in the US primarily. Other markets are more stable at the moment.
