Actually, early NA 5 speeds were a bit different. Reverse lockout and improved internals in the NB 5 speed transmission. The NB 5 speed bolts right into the NA however and is a nice upgrade after the stock gearbox gets to around 200k.

This is true, but if you aren’t looking for big power increases, the 5 speed is just a sweeter gearbox IMHO.

Came here to say this. Most of us early Miata owners prefer the 5 speed to the six.

Wrangler doesn’t really have anything that competes against it for what it is. Currently, it really stands alone.

With the ‘runner, you’ve got all of the similar sized crossovers on the market since the vast majority of the purchasing public has no idea what sets a 4runner apart from a Highlander or Explorer. To them,…
