This is a beer snob statement for the sake of beer snobbery. I'm a beer snob too, but I always drink the free beer first. In fact, for free Miller Light is pretty damn good.

So I decided to head on over to Everyday Carry... Amazing how something that should be a cool concept that we all could get into in the vein of preparedness is quite frankly dominated by what seems to be douchebaggy gear show-offs. $400 dollar knives, Swiss watches and German luxo-cars seem to dominate the thread.
No…
I'm going to do one that is my rusty Suburban's keys, and old Seiko and my Fossil wallet, just as a rebuttal.

It's a $600 wallet. You think he's going to sit on it?
With the addition of a camera, this is pretty much my bag.
Absolutely. In addition to the lack of traction, it takes a bit more power to get there as well on the softer (than tarmac) salt.
Also, something to keep in mind is just how much harder it is to top 200 on the salt flats as opposed to tarmac as well.
And now you really get to have some fun!
It is too bad, but I guess the Allison wouldn't fit back there. The 4LE tranny in the 2500's is pretty stout so long as you don't play with the torque management system on the 8.1s...
Hell yeah!
The early to mid 00's 2500 models have fair off road ability for what they are. It's no jeep wrangler granted, but mine does more that fair. I'll be slinging around some mt gravel roads later, I'll mount the gopro and load it up to YouTube when I get home next week for you, and you can see for yourself.
They just kinda burn oil. You get used to it.
At least the early 8.1s anyway. They burn a qt every 1500 miles or so. They are fine, it's just the way they have always been.
Awesome!
The taco was nice, but this week I'm slinging the 'burban down the gravel roads in the mountains of NC, and I'd never have wanted to bounce that much gravel on my new truck... Fuel mileage be damned.
About 900 bucks on sale at sears. Not too bad really.
Also don't sleep on the 6.0s, that's a really nice engine as well. Oh yeah, don't forget that the GMC Yukon XL came in a 2500 trim too!
Really depends on the truck. My 8.1 2500 in the picture cost about 5k for the truck, and had 145k on the clock. All I've done to it is change out some fluids and make sure that everything was in working order, but if you are handy with a wrench they are really easy beasts to maintain. The most expensive thing for…
