Nearing the end of the first season of Community. It’s good. I’m surprised to discover that it’s mostly about the positive effects of diversity: people from different backgrounds coming together to... well, barely learn beginning Spanish, but also be a close group of friends. All this inclusiveness seems, ironically,

I miss Doonesbury.

Until I saw that episode of Parks & Recreation I thought the Neutral Milk Hotel guy’s name was Jeff Magnum. It seems I’ve developed an internal autocorrect after spending so many years reading other people’s typos, not to mention my onw. (I didn’t even notice anything amiss about yesterday’s “Burce Dern” headline

I finished watching this 18 months after everyone else so no one’s going to read this comment, but here I go anyway.

This is the new horse ebooks.

Tay Zonday’s viral video resulting in a book deal is a perfect example of how this version of Earth is a few steps worse than our own. (Tay Zonday seems like a pretty good person though.)

I didn’t enjoy this as much as usual. I guess I prefer the supernatural hijinks, and half of this took place on Earth, though of course it’s an exaggerated version of Earth.

The end of this article made me laugh in surprise and now I feel like an asshole.

Usually the descriptions of videos on here are redundant, but this time I was glad for it because I had no idea what was going on there.

I was expecting all these comments would be tearing into Pete Davidson specifically for saying Community is nothing. How The AV Club has changed!

I’m glad so many people are learning about Zip Recruiter.

Call-back to The Wire: Method Man’s character is furious about Anwan Glover’s character being a murderer.

I’m enjoying the new Serial. It highlights a lot of the problems with the US justice system that need to be resolved (like the judge who is furious at the guy who entered a not guilty plea, risking a much heavier sentence, even though he ended up being acquitted). Unfortunately, I worry that the only result will be

Who are the other guys? Random session musicians? ...Is it Toto?

Oh, this made me think of a Kevin Spacey joke a year too late: The greatest trick the devil pulled was convincing the world he was just acting.

I can’t get any comments to load on any Kinja site in Firefox. It seems fine in Chrome.

I watched the first episode, and so far this has more in common with Terry Gilliam’s Brazil than anything mentioned in this headline. It has absolutely nothing in common with True Detective, but I guess that’s to come.

I can’t load the comments on here or any Kinja site when I use Firefox. That’s no fun!

I’m surprised to hear someone say good things about the community of TF2. I used to enjoy that game but it’s so full of obnoxious bind-spamming preteens who think racism is hilarious that I couldn’t stand it anymore. The only way that game would be tolerable for me would be if I could turn off the chat.

It’s interesting how there’s no injustice in Franklin’s being in jail (except that it wasn’t first-degree murder since he didn’t intend to kill Kevin) compared to the other guys locked away on drug charges. Unlike them, Franklin is poisoning his community and probably should be kept out of it. Still, we’re rooting for
