They’d only have to make a few changes to have the first part be from Ben’s perspective (like this is how he’s describing it when being interrogated) and that would make more sense... but the way they did it is a lot more interesting.

I did laugh loudly when WhizzBoy said, “They never found who killed her... because they didn’t look in the lake.”
Huh, I guess I’m the only one who found the Sherman segment to be atrocious. First of all, who’s more gullible: the people who supposedly thought they were listening to recordings of terrible crimes happening, or the audience who believes that those people believe that? Also, I thought it was pretty obvious that the…
Prisoners are also allowed to watch broadcast TV. At least, they are at San Quentin, the subject of the very interesting podcast Ear Hustle.
An interesting device I notice on TV shows occasionally: Someone repeats an odd turn of phrase and gives away that they’re closer to someone else than they pretend. Here it’s “bulltrue.” On Manhattan it was “implosion’s in the catbird seat.” On Luck it was... uh, whatever Nathan Israel said that made Michael Gambon’s…
I was surprised to learn Who Framed Roger Rabbit? was about racism, but on reflection it makes total sense.
They were around then but not as relevant as they’re portrayed on the show... though maybe that’s more an issue of scale than time.
They keep referencing things that are happening now. For instance, Black Lives Matter wasn’t such a powerful force in the time period this show should be taking place in.
I’ve heard that prison actually slows aging because you don’t get much sun. Maybe all the stress of leading a cell block sped it up though.
Someone mentioned that Stella had been sent to a different prison. Maybe that’s what happened to Claudette too. It would be nice to see her though.
Angry white dude here. Well, more like sad white dude. Sad because this site, which I come across occasionally and thought was pretty cool, is feeding the scapegoat narrative. For the Democrats to kick Trump out of office, they need to change how they go about things. Blaming outside forces means they’re not prepared…
The line is “be the wave that I am”. I actually wasn’t sure (it works both ways, and Ms. Apple doesn’t pronounce the v clearly) so I looked it up and the only pages that contain the phrase “be the way that I am” are this article and another page that references the song. That’s surprising. Only two people wrote it…
d’Aubigny entered the convent herself and helped her girlfriend escape by putting the body of a dead nun in her bed and then setting the room on fire to disguise the body’s identity
Everyone who wants to has probably already watched the new season of Orange Is The New Black, but I’m only halfway through. I was considering giving up after the first two episodes because it was just too bleak (miscarriages of justice really get me down) but it’s gotten a lot easier to deal with. They’re at least…
I was expecting a final Daddy flashback where the guy kills her girl so she stabs him to death. Then I remembered that these aren’t origin stories anymore.
The new Pooh doesn’t even look like him. They should be encouraging this new Pooh so he replaces the old Pooh in the minds of the Chinese citizenry.
I was wondering if the two guys at the park were a couple. It’s not uncommon for closeted gay guys to go gay bashing to deal with the shame they feel about their orientation and/or to throw people off the scent.
The actress who plays Cindy looks too old to be play the character as a teenager... so they got an actress who doesn’t look much like her but does look the same age. It’s like some wires got crossed over at the casting department.
He’s almost 80. I’m surprised he’s still doing it.
