Oh wow, I’ve listened to that Nick Cave song a lot and I always assumed the laughter was intentionally set up as part of the song’s creepy weirdness. It didn’t occur to me that it could be a genuine, unplanned moment.

I wish bands would stop naming their albums after colors.

Subtitles in French? There’s no way that’s real.

I’m surprised Mr. Delos is Scottish. The name looks Spanish, like it’s an abbreviation of a longer name like De Los Santos or something.

They also briefly showed him healing himself with one of those futuristic healing gadgets.

At least Max has a shot with Carrie now.

Simone’s motivations in the first part (and the end of the previous episode) were a bit hard for me to swallow. Carrie convinces her in a few seconds that the Russians want to kill Simone, so that’s enough for her to completely turn on them? I’d expect a top-level spy to be a bit more loyal than that.

There’s so much spitting in faces in entertainment lately. It happened on tonight’s episode of Barry too. (Well, I guess it wasn’t a literal one in that case.) Rupert Friend had a particularly memorable one in The Death Of Stalin as well.

Oh, odd, I was watching on a browser. The promos I was referring to were shown on the main Netflix page.

Now playing

I’m disappointed it ended before we got to hear him not know how to play melodica. At least I can listen to him not know how to play piano, which is pretty funny.

I don’t think Dark really belongs in this discussion. I tried the first episode of Dark (it wasn’t for me) and by default, it was giving me the English-dubbed version; I had to switch some things around to get the original audio with subtitles. If you have to put in some work to get the subtitled version, does it

I thought the nooses were an odd touch. I guess I don’t know a lot about hanging, but I would assume that generally when the body is moved they wouldn’t go through the trouble of removing it from the noose, they’d cut it down. It makes me think no one was hanged in those particular nooses; maybe some people were about

Apparently Louis CK changed his name to Ben Foster. I wouldn’t expect that to work but he seems to be getting away with it.

I’m reminded of the frequently joke-subtitled scene from the movie Downfall where Hitler screams at his leadership. One of the things he really says is “I should have liquidated all the high-ranking officers, like Stalin!” In some ways, Stalin was more evil than Hitler.

It reminded me of Full Metal Jacket where Leonard is forced to eat his contraband donut while the rest of the squad does push-ups. Of course, Leonard was in no danger of becoming a leader.

Lots of great scenes in this one but I think my favorite was the confrontation between Oleg and Tatiana. Some excellent acting there. It never occurred to me (or Oleg) that Tatiana might have been the one who figured out Oleg was behind the betrayal, but it probably should have.

It turns out this has all been yet another Batman origin story.

That was pretty cool. I especially like their tambourine player.

I, too, have a hard time keeping track of all of these characters. It almost makes me want to rewatch the show but I only do that for my favorite ones.

I thought the reason Moss held on to the acting class was because she wanted to prevent herself from seeing Gene, but it didn’t work. As we’re reminded in the “previously on,” she told him it was inappropriate to date him while he was part of the investigation; do critics’ screeners not include those?
