Jalopnik’s done that for years. In fact, having staff all over the places is one of the smartest things they’ve done. No blowing extra travel days to send someone to an event if you have someone right in town. Different perspectives and stories beyond the usual three cities. That’s an extremely good thing.

Ok

Sorry, your gatekeeping bullshit doesn’t matter any more.

You act like that makes insta-wins happen in fighting games. The auto combos are there for people who just aren’t good to enjoy themselves with single player and such. It doesn’t make them get any less stomped by people who know what they’re doing.

Terry so down on his luck he had to get gender reassignment surgery just to be in a new game.

DOA borrowed its gameplay from Virtua Fighter. Eventually, some Virtua Fighter character’s appeared in DOA5.

If memory serves me correctly, they made the game with the “I’m a Fighter” tagline, less overtly fanservice physics to try get people to take it seriously.

Then it didn’t sell like they expected and they told their developers to unleash the kraken and started selling $80 DLC packs full of fanservice.

Now playing

As a big SoulCalibur fan, I’m embarrassed that my favorite slashy-stabby fighter is doubling down on this childish cheesecake while the poster boy of lewd fighters is finally trying to grow up.

Not at all a fighting game veteran so forgive me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the counter system in DoA fairly unique? I don’t think I’ve seen any other games try it.

for me the gimmick is the counter button. most fighters have blocking as the primary defense and counters being relegated to a few characters, or as a limited mechanic(the sf3 parry). doa was a game which used a much more active feeling of defense, you weren’t turtling, but you could punish over-aggressive players.

Dragon Ball FighterZ has one button combos and it’s the most anticipated game at EVO this year.

Anyone who actually believe the sexiness wont come back and that the gane is gonna be super serious this time doesnt remember when they pulled this exact same shit back when DOA5 was first released

Let’s get going!  These ships aren’t going to shoot themse...   ...wait...

About half our staff works at the GMG mothership in New York, and the other half is spread out across Texas, LA, North Carolina, Detroit and with contributors in Europe and Asia.

PPretty sure Jalopnik has writers in multiple locations too buddy

Greatest city on Earth, folks!

Yeah that’s definitely how it works for a blog that’s part of a larger media company. Nobody at Jalopnik has ever thought about or considered moving somewhere else.

It’s no great secret that driving around Brooklyn is a terrible way to test a performance car, or really any car.

The traffic is awful and so are other drivers. Room to really open it up and go fast is hard to come by. The streets are riddled with potholes and road damage. And to top it all off, there’s garbage everywhere

“ (I)ts CEO really needs to log off. (Really, everyone does.)“ Good point, but I would settler for just Elon Musk and our Tweeter-in-Chief logging off.
