My own experiences are that self checkouts are uniformly easy to use nowadays. I honestly never had trouble with the older ones, either, but the new ones get things done quicker. I exclusively use the self checkouts at Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club and Kroger (grocery store). I occasionally use the one at Target, but since I’m

I agree, but they’d probably declare bankruptcy, and most of the medical bills would be discharged there. Taking the kid away sounds completely sound, and in a sane society, would have happened automatically. (The kid would not only not leave the hospital in his parent’s care, his parents would be barred from seeing

While flawed, Alexa site rankings are a good way to compare to websites. Deadspin has a global ranking of 2,796 and a US ranking of 570. Barstool Sports has a global ranking of 5,032 and a US ranking of 855. It seems clear that Deadspin’s a vastly more popular site from that alone.

The weirdest thing is that if the burger comes with the condiments already, the restaurant doesn’t go overboard like that. I’ve had better luck (but not perfect, so I mostly gave up) asking for a burger without the topping I don’t want. For example, if it comes with ketchup and mustard, I ask them to hold the ketchup

Demand to see a manager, and if necessary do so by having another employee get the manager for you. (In my experience, most asshole servers will not go get the manager for you, because they know they’re going to get in trouble and are stupid enough to think you wont be able to get the manager some other way.) Unless

My experiences suggest people are doing so. I like burgers with mustard on them, no other sauces. I no longer order them as mustard only because every fucking restaurant I’ve ever eaten at decides that “mustard only” = “enough goddamn mustard to kill an entire bus load of adults via mustard overdose.” I like mustard,

I doubt it was the singer Meghan Trainor, simply because of how her Twitter got locked down temporarily after she complained there about the other ones. To me that sounds like someone deliberately targeting her to cause problems for her. It certainly wouldnt be the first time some asshole has done something like that

I’ve worked drive-through at a fast food place, no one ever tipped me or any of my coworkers. Sonic doesn’t provide a way to tip if you pay by credit/debit card at the stall or using their app. The system doesn’t ask, or make the option available in any shape, form or fashion. Same thing for every fast food place I’ve

Yeah, how dare those streamers bring all kinds of attention to the games, resulting in more game sales and/or microtransactions purchased by the stream viewers! Game companies don’t want all that extra money for free!

The comparison you probably want is a car running into an unyielding object. (I wanted to say brick wall, but cars have crashed through brick walls on numerous occasions.) The momentum dies off as the object absorbs it all, potentially heating up a bit from the energy, but not budging because the car doesn’t have enou

If they can turn it into something like the racing in the Speed Racer movie, I’d actually start watching racing. Movie wasnt all that great, but damn were those racing sequences fun to watch.

The reality of the world is, not everyone gets on the tech bandwagon. DVD was significantly better than VHS tapes, in many ways. (Doesn’t degrade; can jump to any point quickly, not just fast forward and rewind; better video quality, etc.) People migrated to them fairly quickly due to the multiple advantages. But

The problem with containment only is that the containment has to be rebuilt periodically. For example, the New Safe Confinement (NSC) for Chernobyl’s only designed to last 100 years, and the original sarcophagus was always meant to be a temporary structure. Since Japan is quite active seismologically, plus typhoons

Offensensitivity, as coined by Berkely Breathed in this November 14, 1982 comic strip:

Spotify’s free tier on mobile is pretty awful. You’re limited to about 150 tracks on a few playlists it auto-generates based on your play history. You can also skip very few times. Premium is great, you can listen to whatever you want, skip all you want and download playlists and albums for offline listening. I like Sp

I was taking my mom to a doctor’s appointment one day and there was a freaking black bear sitting in the middle of the inside lane on the eastbound side of the interstate. The area where it happened has woods around it, but they’re broken up by development on both sides, so there’s no clear way for the bear to have rea

That’s why everyone needs to unionize, not just parts of the game companies. If the company tries to fire all the marketing and PR people in retaliation for unionizing, they’re going to think twice about those plans when all the developers say they’ll go on strike if they do so.

You’re correct, but the problem is opponents of unionization use that as an argument against unions. It’s a straw man argument, but copious amounts of people have fallen for it and view unions as the anti-christ.

That whole paragraph where he says its not like like flipping a switch is full of so many hedging and twists that its hard to tell if he actually said anything of substance. I think we can chalk that one up to being grade A bullshit and nothing else.
