I agree, I grew up poor and would have jumped at the chance to go to a school like UC Davis, would have been THRILLED, but instead worked full time, took all the classes I could from community colleges and graduated from Cal State Dominguez (or as it is more affectionately known “Cal State Compton”). I agree, and expressed similar sentiments downthread. A parent’s job is to meet at least the basics of their children’s needs, and no child asks to be born, so I don’t see where the mother character gets off on treating her daughter like shit for being a child with needs (a safe school).
