And we’d never call a socialist a socialist, unless they called themselves one.”

there’s valid reasons for it existing as a rallying cry

in my experience, “centrist” candidates do have workable, solid platforms and they’re not overly focused on saying “I’m not a socialist!!!” -they’re tired of having to say it at all and having that constantly detract from explaining their actual platforms.

Blaming the progressives for saying progressive things is wrong!”

or it’s possible they’re right and there’s no “right” answer here as to what to do?

I unfollowed a while ago (like a couple years) when they published *a video of a woman’s sexual assault, without even blurring her out* under the guise of Journalism, Truth or something.

I have SO much respect for her and her vision of how to make things better. It’s the sort of energy we need - building things up, instead of the constant negative “we should burn it all down, meanwhile I’m going to do nothing about it myself” that doesn’t get anything done

“Become a less-public figure?”

I’ve read into it a little and I think the reality is that the polls may just not be good at measuring a candidate like Trump when his entire schtick is “mistrust the media.” It’s entirely possible that the people they’re opting to poll flat out won’t answer them if they voted for Trump, because those asking are

I saw my friend post a “Bernie would have won” wistful Instagram post and just had to look away and take a slow breath.

ah man, I don’t come to this conversation with the answers haha. I honestly have no idea how to turn this ship around and mostly feel like a lil rat that got stuck on the titanic. It’s going down and I’m apparently going down with it.

I’ve been seeing a mix of things - I didn’t realize how many ballots were still uncounted from Philadelphia (where I live) so that gives me some hope because the city def skews way liberal.

I guess I don’t get how that adds up because conservatives vote! don’t mean courting them in the sense of giving them anything though, more just that constantly repeating “You’re voting for Trump? So I guess you’re a Nazi who likes murder and bathes in the blood of marginalized people?” doesn’t seem to be ringing a

I realized I AGAIN put too much faith in polling, and like last time I was watching the election results this morning/last night being like “excuse me WHAT.” Ugh

I think that’s always what people imagine will happen -“I’m ideal because I’m not jaded by the system! I understand the people [despite being a hyper-rich celebrity]! I’ll reinvigorate things!”

meh. I don’t have an issue with celebrities running for office, but I do have an issue with how many of them want a top position in government when they have no experience in politics. And they always do! They’re never running for some local office to get a feel for things. It’s always president of the entire country,

everytime I see Orlando Bloom right now I feel very glad he didn’t get with me back when I desired him in 10th grade or whenever those movies came out. Man, Legolas sure was hot.

It’s quasi, I get that it enters the same realm of hurt but she isn’t actually disappearing. He could literally just ask her on Instagram “hey, just to be clear, do you not really feel up to chatting anymore? since I haven’t heard back from you on text” and it sounds like she would respond. But he’s unwilling to ask

that’s the huge difference I see between Jezebel 5 years ago and Jezebel today. Jezebel of old would’ve given women enough benefit of a doubt to fact check. Jezebel today assumes any teardown of a woman they’ve read on Twitter is accurate, so long as it seems “woke.” I feel curmudgeony writing that out though...

YEP. Honestly it goes back to what they’re saying in the social dilemma documentary... it’s all engineered to make us glued to our apps. Like why even tell us who’s looking at it lol. All it does is get people agitated.
