Yes, I don’t think there’s any strong evidence that she looked black. I more meant, Greco/Mediterranean people themselves are not always that “white” because of the proximity of that area to Africa and Asia - she may have been “white” in the sense that we often say “white” to describe anyone with European roots, but…

ha... you’re right. I went back to the original Jezebel article on this and the one tweet they linked to, which was pretty much the only link to “discourse,” barely has more action than my tweets (which is to say, not a lot).

I wish one of these articles about her religious beliefs would back up the statement that it’s normal and routine to ask about religion during the hearing with prior hearing testimony (of other, approved justices). Not that I don’t believe it, but I also don’t want to just take anyone’s word for it when it’s the crux…

I agree - or at least, it feels like they’re otherwise walking an impossible line if they’re going to try and legislate thinness. If it’s the “primary” measure, that also - presumably - means there are secondary measures/it’s not the only measure used to determine

I guess I mean, the system is inherently flawed if we rely on the other side to do what we think is fair or right but isn’t actually part of the official system. That is just destined to fail
