I think the bigger question in terms of how this massive fuck-up occurred is why was there a projectile in the gun? I was once in a play that required a gunshot, and the consultant (a cop) would not let the props team even put a blank in the gun to create the gunshot sound, because on rare occasions blanks can cause

Sure, but that is not how a prop gun would be used in a movie, where you don’t need to generate live sound? I would assume it’s totally normal to be firing a prop gun like you are actually firing a gun in a movie. Like, finger on the trigger, gun pointed in the air, pull the trigger intentionally ... expect there to

That’s not how I interpreted the article. I think they were taking objection to the term “prop gun” assuming that all prop guns are not real firearms. I don’t know much about “prop guns” but that doesn’t appear to be true. A prop gun can be a fake gun or it can be a real one that is being used as a prop. So the point

It does appear it was a real firearm FWIW (this is the latest NYT reporting - “On Thursday, Hutchins, 42, was killed when the actor Alec Baldwin discharged a firearm being used as a prop on the set of “Rust””)

Literally every other article/news clip I’ve seen about this used the word “misfire” to describe this terrible accident ... but “clicks” I guess

What the actual hell is the tone of this article???

Shannon doesn’t have a conscience or any journalistic integrity. The entirety of her portfolio is just an ongoing effort to find new ways to drag Jezebel further into the sleazy underbelly of tabloid gossip and celebrity harassment.

What a cunt move, Shannon. “Alec Baldwin discharged a firearm on the set of his latest film” is followed soon thereafter with, “The firearm, which is being referred to as a “prop gun” in the media without any definitive proof that it was not a real firearm...”

What the fuck is this headline? It makes it sound like Baldwin was complicit in some way in the shooting. I get it, he’s an asshole, but there’s literally 0 evidence that on his end this was anything but an awful accident. The prop guy may be culpable, but Baldwin sure as shit isn’t.

Oh man I miss old jezebel. I loved pot psychology but I'm sure there would be so much pearl clutching if they tried to do it again. We can't even do light hearted celeb gossip/snarky remarks without other people scolding us from their high horses. I can't even poke fun at Beyonce for not giving credit to people she

Yeah. My issue with Munn is that she is always dating someone with a level of fame (even if said level is small), and always ensures it’s in the press. Always.

I think they’ve let go most of them go, as we’re down to around 1-2 articles max a day here now. That’s what happens when you unionize, you only keep a few of the most essential, and people with seniority. I think they outsourced the guy that keeps the comment system working too.

This would have been some good red meat for old jezebel, but the writers, and especially the commenters, that are here now can’t handle this kind of stuff and go with it. Too busy kissing ass and being pollyannas.

A lot is residual Olivia Munn hatred. A lot.

Bring back OG Jezebel

Jez was BUILT on this and for this.

Yo FUCK John Mulaney and FUCK Olivia Munn. They’re pieces of shit who publicly danced on the grave of this woman’s marriage.

Good on her for taking the high road and living her best life.

I look forward the inevitable Jez article dissecting the remains of Mulaney

I feel like the majority of the backlash is due to how much time Mulaney spent crapping on comedians who do ‘OMG my spouse is terrible’ routines, like the clip where Jerry Seinfeld is clearly trying to goad him into bashing her. If he had barely mentioned her at all I don’t think people would’ve been so invested.

I’m glad Tendler is finding the time and space to express herself and make silly videos, and I hope she gets a jillion followers, meets someone new, and is fabulously happy (same goes for Munn and Mulaney.)

It’s extremely easy to snap up a couple lines, present them out of context, to make a bad point (that seems good)... it’s extremely difficult to illustrate the point that a nuanced interaction between statements (spread out over 90 minutes) are actually conveying. This is why journalism is supposed to be difficult.

Try watching his standup before judging then? Sorry but you are the epitome of what he is trying to say in this special and doesn’t have to defend himself as such, at least not to someone that hasn’t taken the time to even view the content...

I agree. I also think it’s really unfair to put the onus on these actresses to turn down roles (when it’s not like there are that many good roles for WOC, even light skinned ones) and insist that a darker-skinned woman be cast because that would just lead to that actress being categorised as ‘difficult’ and
